Need a reccomendation on headers.
Alright guys, I've got a 305TBI, and I just got unleashed to mod it. I need some reccomendations on which headers to get. I like the SLP's and the Hookers. The thing I don't like about the SLP's are that the coated ones are so expensive. The thing I don't like about the hookers is that they don't have AIR tubes. Though, I have heard that hooker makes a part with AIR tubes. Any truth to this? I'd really like to get them coated for looks, heat, and weather. I live in the salt band, so weather is a big factor on uncoated headers. Thanks in advance.
Or, if you could suggest some good headers that you would get.

yo if you have a 305 tbi all you need to spead is $200 on the flowtech headers and y-pipe
they are 1.5 inch primaries which is what you want when you have a milddly moded 305 it is all you need and any bigger you start to lose torq
let me also say that these headers fit just as good or most of the time better then the more expencive slps and hookers
with the slps you might have to dent your perfect new headers to get them you fit near the stering shaft
trust me i have them and my friend 84silverbirdSE have them and they are one of the best mods i have done to date and most effective also get the 3" flowmaster system to go with it
you win not be disapointed

i would definately get some 1 5/8" primary headers. hooker part number 2055 comes with air tubes i believe. i would try to get headers that have a 3" outlet on the ypipe. i bought some hedmans w/o smog stuff or O2 sensor bung. that is what i wanted. their ypipe leaves a bit to be desired. the collectors are not a smooth transition(ifixed that) and the single pipe is 2.5" (i fixed that also, 3"). now i have a smooth transition and 3" pipe. they are not coated though(jet hot charges 180 for coating shorty headers and 12 bux a foot for the ypipe.) i would definately get something with 1 5/8" primaries and a 3" outlet with a 3" cat back exhaust.

do they sell that model in a coated version?
also, I noticed that in summit, that part number shows up as use for 86-90 TPI engines only. Any reasons why? aren't the old L03's like the '88 L03 the same as the '92 L03?

Also they dont have the stove pipe extention that would run to the stock air cleaner housing. Dont matter if you have an open element.

If you want Hooker shorties with A.I.R., O2, 3" @ cat, and coated, order HOK-2055-1 from Summit.
The "TPI" part is intended for those looking to hook them up to stock exhaust (or cat, in this case). Get the entire exhaust as if it's for '86-'90 TPI w/3" single cat, and you'll be fine.
As I understand it, the Hedman y-pipe goes to 2-1/2", with an adapter included to hook it to a 3" cat. Big mistake. SLP & Hooker both are 3" when the two sides come together. TES may be also, haven't heard for sure about them. People seem to have other issues with TES, though.

haha, I thought that SLP's were more expensive than the Hooker's. But that P/N you gave me make them more expensive than the coated SLP's in the GP. I think I'll go with the GP.
