Headers, Hedman or Edelbrock TES

It's time for headers on my 84 Z28 L69. Should I spend $342 for the Edelbrock TES or get the Hedman Manifolds for $310?

People are going to tell you to go with hedmen or hooker and that the TES suck but really anyone of em are a big improvement over stock! No one hear (i think) has any dyno's with headmen and then edelbrock to show if one is in fact better then the other so it really all comes down to what you want and how far your want to mod your car. If you are going to mod your car pretty good (heads, intake) then id say go with SLP but if you aren't I think hooker, hedmen or the TES are just as good for your car.

Dyno data from my 355 w/ Edelbrock headers is on the page in my sig.

The punchline: 367.5 lb/ft torque, 287.5hp at the wheels. Uncorrected. OK for TPI and stock runners with a little polishing, stock 22# injectors.

Well, I don't have a lot of money to spend, SLP, so would that money be better spent on say a camshaft or intake manifold?

well, sure it'll make a differance but IMO I would finishes the exhaust so I would go for headers. Think about it, why spend money on induction mods when it's still being choked on the way out. But then again you got to start somewhere and your going to have to do all the induction and exhaust mods anyways if you want to make power so if the induction is cheaper go for it.

Most ppl. will say Edelbrock TES is the easiest to install. But I don't know about performance compare to SLP. I'm getting Edelbrock cause of the price and I don't want any trouble installing headers...

Hedman

I bought the Hedman long tube ceramic coated. Man are pretty! Haven't installed them yet but I can't wait! Oh I paid $305 from summit.

In my opinion if you are not a serious track dragger then you don't need 1 3/4 pimaries 1 5/8 are fine for a mildly modded 350. And i've heard SLP's are PIA to install but I think all headers are! why buy the VERY EXPESIVE SLP's when there are cheaper alternatives out there. Hooker, Hedman etc.. But i'm a cheap guy! I suppose if I could afford SLP'S I would consider them, but i'm a poor boy

D***it wheres my sig?

My Edelbrock

I have the Edelbrock exhaust setup on my 88' GTA. My car makes around 260 rwhp, and I would not go with Edelbrock. It sounds good, and handles hp good - but if you rev up your engine past 2grand, it crackles and pops everywhere. Sounds sloppy. I'm switching mine out for flows, or SLP.

could the snap crakle and pop's come from exhaust leaks? My TES headers don't do that.....but then again you have 100hp more then me maybe that makes a differance

I read somewhere that an H OR X pipe helps to reduce the crackle if you're runnin duals?

I am around 300 RWHP & don't have any of the noises mentioned.
