Final decision time on Catback system
OK, Ive been kicking this around for a long time on this board and otherplaces. Im ready to make my final decision and have narrowed it down to three choices and would appreciate help in making my final decision. My car is a 91 formula 5.7 (dual cats, WS6) with some light mods now, but I plan to mod it pretty heavy eventually, including cam, aluminum head, complete intake, headers, etc.
1. Borla stainless steel exaust system - Lingenfelter says this is the best sytem for performance and durability. Its expensive and I dont know how it sounds
2. Hook Catback system - Lingenfelter says good also, especially the Hooker Aerochamber muffler, Guys on this site like it (one guy in particular I cant remember his name). Is cheaper and supposedly sounds good, not loud at idle but growls at higher rpms
3. Flowmaster series 80 catback. I wasnt' considering this but I am thinking about it because I now want an agressive sound.
Remember, this car is not a daily driver. I take it out on weekends and might drive it to the other side of Houston where there is a car gathering every Sat night or occasionally to the strip. Thats the farthest, so long term sound is not a problem. I want performance, but I want sound too, I considering that if I get a Borla or Hooker that I'll be dissappointed in the sound. I plan on keeping the car a long time (like forever) and keeping it in great shape, upgrading little by little based on my meager budget. Well that's it, I want to get this baby in so let me know.

id go with hooker, i love mine, but i would just search the board for a final decision. This topic comes up everyday, there are probably a thousand posts on this one topic and a few polls, you should find what you are looking for.

I'd say Hooker, I haven't heard anyone dissapointed with the sound. Sound clip in the signature. Though I don't think you'll be dissappointed in Flowmaster either.

I have to disagree, borla sounds sort of crappy on a 4th gen. My brother had it on his 2000 z28, but changed in favor of the slp that was offered as a $700 option in the SS package.
On my third gen, however, it sounds great. You can adjust the airflow by changing plates easily, and that gives different sounds as well. Fully open is very loud; I normally run a custom plate a bit smaller than the smallest plate they supply. It looks nice with the quad slash cut chrome tips, too. Can't beat a lifetime warranty.
