4th gen t/a exhaust on a 86 z-28
My friend has a 2002 trans am ws6, he is upgrading his exhaust and said he would give me his stock exhaust system for free...I wanted to go with an aftermarket system also, but this system sounds a hella lot better than mine does now and its free...I was wondering if it would even fit and if so what would I have to do to make it fit....would it be better(easier) to just buy an aftermarket such as flowmaster, edelbrock etc...?
Thanks a bunch

Yes the TAs well fit but you have to make some new exhaust mounts for the Muffler and add a couple of In of pipe from the cat back to the Muffler.
The TA muffler alone should give you 10 more Hp and with a Gutted cat id say around 5 more hp.
To put that muffler on id go to pepboys and by some mounts and play around with it tell you get it right. You may all so try getting mounts off a any 4th gen for a junk yard and make those mounts fit
Hope that helps

yea that does help a bunch, thanks a bunch...i was surprised that it would add about 10hp with just the muffler I was more after the sound and that price of 0.00 is also pretty appealing. if i took it to a muffler shop how much should it cost just to have them install it?

i figured it wouldnt sound just like his...but just out of curiousity why won't it sound like his? I know he has a completly different car but except for the exhaust system what else determines what it sounds like?

Firing order will effect the "tone" a great deal, plus the fact that a car with more HP is louder than a car with less through the same system. (Camrs89s car is WAY louder than mine and we have identical setups as an example).
Is it the same firing order as a stang? I honestly don't know, but now I'm curious.
