16yr confusied on exhuast type.

I'm a 16yr who jsut finished rebuilding his 350 for a 86z28. I bought a set of flow tech shorty hearders for it. Right now i have jsut a cheat muffler thats hollowed out that cam with the car as my exhaust. I was wondering what type of exhaust should i get for the best sound/proformance. I don't have the cat converter on my car. I would apperciate all the advice i could get on this.

I really hope you didn't just gut the muffler.... if anything that can hurt your performance.
and if you have a gutted cat you would want to remove that also

what you want to do is put a straight pipe all the way to the muffler instead and then most any straight though muffler would be your best bet

I would stay away from any chamber mufflers or a muffler that uses baffles to reduce sound level, since the restrict flow as well as scavaging effects

Yeah, do you mean the cat is hollowed?

I would get a Hooker cat-back. Sound is in the signature. That or a Flowmaster, most people like flows or hooker.

A side note, those flowtech headers aren't the best, but are better than manifolds.

you could just get a flowmaster 80 sounds just like a full cat back but only costs 90 bucks. i know cash at 16 is a major issue.

Ah the Flowtech headers are fine. They're a little bit on the small side (1 1/2 primaries) but for the price, the quality is excellent. I would recommend them to anyone.
