ALL TES header owners, please step inside...
Alright, here's the situation rundown. I'm finally going for headers, I'm getting the Chrome plated Edelbrock TES, #68721. Does anyone have these on their Camaro/Firebird with A/C? How hard was it really to put on? The drivers side doesn't look TOO hard, but the passenger side looks like a bat outta hell...
And please, don't try to convince me to get a different set of headers, I'm a poor teenager and it looks like so much of a b!tch to put in, I want some that will drop in as easily as possible. I've seen quite a few people on the boards running more than decent times with these headers, so that's good enough for me.

Very easy in my car, actually the driver side was easier than the passenger side. I've seen a number of people complain about having to take apart the steering shaft, well the instructions say to do so LOL or at least on mine.

How hard was the passenger side? You didn't have to remove the valve cover or anything did you? I just put on chrome valve covers, and the stupid gaskets were a b!TCh. I REALLY don't wanna have to do that over again, lol.

on my 305 tbi on the drivers side i had the tabe out the one bolt on the steering shaft and that was easy then it wen't right in. onthe pass. side u have to take off the valve cover, the dip stick, the long tube thing comin up from the A.I.R pump and the very back plug, oh and watch the fan relay sensor thign in the side of the head, then it shoudl slide rigth on. the hardest part is gettin off the old manifolds. well good luck man and i am 16 and i did it by myself and it was not a big deal.

Yeah, i just got my car back today from the dealer, it didn't even have that switch on the head, so I'm a bit uncomfortable messing around in that area.... I looked on the car and I couldn't see where it was really at, can you describe where it's located?

I never took off either valvecover just the dipstick and steering shaft. I was able to slip both headers down from the top. I'm running chrome edelbrock valvecovers.

i didnt have to take apart my steering shaft. It was a really tight fit to get them in w/o doing that, but they went right in. I dont know how any of you got the pass side dipstick to work w/ them. I broke down and put a new dipstick in on the drivers side (my engine ecepts both). Also, Note how your brackets fit back together. Good idea to take pics. I never put mine back in, they were too misaligned to fit with my new motor for soem reason.
Youll defiantly want to get as much out of the way as possible, like allt he air crap, it will make your life easier. Finally, soak those old bolts in your exaust manifolds in a penitrating oil overnight. They come out alot easier. Overall, id say their about a 6 to get in. Itll take you at least three hours or more.

I didn't have to touch the steering shaft either.
I dont have any emissions or A.C., so for me the whole deal took less than an hour.
As far as the quality of edelbrock's headers and the power you'll make, It's been beat to death around here, and no one's had a good enough argument to convince me to change.

All you need to do to get the passenger side on is remove the smog box, and to move the AC compressor over. Unbolt it from the bracket, pull it out gently, and move it out of the way. They will drop right in. For the drivers side you remove the alternaror and hard fuel line that goes to the fuel rail. Then they will also then drop right in.
This is the EASIEST way to install them... trust me!
Anymore q's, ask away.
