Exhaust help!
Exhaust help!
Hey guys, i'm new to the forum. I just baught my 1st camaro last weekend, its an 84' Z28 5.0 H.O w/ a 4bbl carb. It's in pretty good condition, the motor runs strong and is clean, interior is completely intact & clean and looks good except for drivers seat, it's ripped. I picked it up for $700. I just couldn't pass it up. As far as I can tell it has a stock exhaust setup on it, the guy said it has hooker headers, and they have a small leak, we just had a catalytic convertor put on it, because it was without one, what I want to know is, what are your recommendations for a good but cheap exhaust system, I don't know if I should just put new hedders and then some flowmaster & tips or should I re-do the pipes completely, and how complicated would that be, please give me some suggestions and what kind of work would be required. Thanks.

Don't buy headers if you already have them. I'd say look into the Hooker cat-back, which is 3" on back. But if you're set on Flows get that. There is a sound clip in my sig.
Welcome by the way.

Thanks man, I listened to your clip of the hooker cat-back and I love the way it sounds, do you know where I could buy it from and about how much do you think it'll cost? Also, do you think i'd get a similar sound on my pretty much stock 305?

Cost for yours, I think $200, may be in stock, may not. Check Summit and Jeg's. Mine were $259 but they are a different model and I got the last set from Summit and the are on Backorder now.
hooker catback, BTW.

It will be $200-$260 depending on your app. Only difference is the way they connect to the cat. The $200 one has a square flange hook up to the cat.
It will sound similar to my 1st clip, cause that is on an 8.5":1 compressoin motor, and a worse cam than yours. And a non hi flo cat.
