89 A/C bracket with SLP headers

Should my A/C bracket bolt right up to the bolts on my headers? I couldn't get it to fit during the install so I left it out and I just had my hood poped with the A/C on and there was bad vibrations. I won't be surprised if I need to buy something from SLP.

You will need the A/C bracket that SLP sells for its Headers. I went the same route.

Will you need this bracket for all SLP Headers or just certain part numbers? I am in the process of buying 30004's. Will I need the AC Bracket?

Also, did you guys use the SLP Header Installation kit that they offer for ~$80? If not what did you do?

TIA,

KZad

I got the install kit that included the A/C bracket, and its cheaper to buy the kit. Yes, you need it for all SLP headers.

I was under the impression you only needed it for the V-belt systems and not serpentine.

I was going to buy the install kit p/n 30043. It doesnt come with the bracket. This kit is only $45, because it goes with headers w/o A.I.R.

For that price, I cannot turn it up. I am going to call them this afternoon to figure out what to do about the brackets. (after I take a look at my car, too)

I will let you know what I find out.

I Just talked to SLP. I talked with Art (x104). He said that with the headers that I am buying -30004- the header install kit -30043- is all that I would need. He said that if I needed AC or Alternator Brackets, they would come with the kit.

He also said that depending on the Catalytic Converter that I have, I will need a Catalyst Adaptor. I personally am not purchasing one, because I am having the Y-Pipe put in by my exhaust shop.

Hope that Helps,

KZad

You will still need the Cat Adaptor from your Y pipe to the Cat.

Is the problem that you are having with the bracket that it is too long to fit over the bolt without hitting the header tube?

That is the only fitment problem that I had with mine. Just took a grinder wheel to it and it worked fine.

If that is the problem and my description doesn't make sense let me know and we can talk through it.

BTW, I used the SLP install kit and there was nothing in it for the bracket.

Z28DJP1987-

Wont the Exhaust shop be able to make a pipe for me? I think they should be able to, no?

When I had my SLP 1 3/4 headers installed, I used their kit and also the slip fit adaptor to the Cat. A lot less trouble then trying to fab something up at muffler shop. I think they cost less then
$20.00. Having all the parts on hand make the installation that much easier. My opinion.

I completely understand.

does it look like in this picture that the Y-pipe already has the slip fit pipe on there???

Looks like the slip fit part, its the elbow about 12" long. SLP P/N 30038. Good luck on your installation.
