sound increase?
I was just wondering how much louder my car would be without the cat on it. Im planning on taking it off this weekend since it dont need to pass emissions and its starting to rattle inside. I just wonder if it will make it alot louder or just a little or how it will sound at all.

U have stock exhaust? Well if u do, then its gonna get louder, um, i did on my 93 Grand Prix, and lets just say the sound difference was like night and day.
I dont know how it reacts with V8s since i havent, or decided yet if i'm gonna do it to my GTA yet, it might be more of a low rumble sound with V8s, instead of higher pitched rattling sounds u get with smaller engines, u know.
But bottom line is if u dont care how loud it is, then go for it, and hey if its to much then put it back in, unless its welded on, then its more of a hassle.
Good luck, and if u do, post it here, cause i'm thinking about doing it too.
P.S. just read your sig, u have cat-back...lol.

ok cool thanks guys for all the input. I will let you all know how it turns out since its coming off saturday morning when I have the time to do it . The best part is I have to take it off then drive the car to the muffler shop to get a pipe welded in since they cant remove it themselves. I cant wait to see what it sounds like and if I gain any power.

well its gone now and it doesnt seem to be any louder. The car does have a little more snap to it though. I was kind of hoping it would be alot louder but its not much louder than a stock exhaust even with my Dynomax system on there, hh well still sounds good>

im running with a straight pipe in its place and there is a noticable difference. You hafta have headers to have any apreaciable sound come out of the exaust. The stock manifolds really deaden alot of sound.
