if you wanna go for borla thats cool but theres so many other less expensive systems out there that will give you the same performance. edelbrock, hooker, flowmaster, dynomax...all of these systems are cheaper and will give great performance and a nice sound.

ps. once mark sees this thread he's gonna yell hooker

SLP headers and Borla exhaust is a great combination! It turns alot of heads. Everyone loves my exhaust from rednecks to fratboys and don't forget the ladies. Shop around though and get it as cheap as possible maybe even used.

I'm running borla and I really love it. I can see it sticking out from my car cover outside right now. I'm running edelbrock coated headers--they're not good enough for me though. I got them with a 305 in mind, but now I have a 350 and the first thing I do when I've got some money to spend(not for a while) will probably be to get some coated slp headers. I really need something that actually fits the ports on my heads...which the edelbrocks don't even come close to doing,

If I were you, I wouldn't go with Borla. They cost a ton of money, and won't give you anymore power gains than another brand. Go with Flowmaster, or even better, Hooker. They both sound great and cost WAY less than Borla. I mean who wants to pay $500 for a cat-back exhaust?? Don't waste your money. Borla sounds like crap too.

I'm using the borla cat back and I think its great. Flows way better than my old blomasters. For headers I'd go with SLP and coat them. I think this combo is the best.

<--- Aquired Borla adjustable from a member for only $100, spent another $80 to get it welded back together and installed.
The reason he got rid of it was weight. Borla is definatly one of the heaviest exhaust setups and the tips are fugly.
I spent $10 at Lowe's and got some stainless sheet metal and cut my own plates. Right now I'm running open exhaust because I like to set off everybody's alarms around here. Besides, you ever see the face of some drunks when you rev your motor...they sometimes jump on eachother or trip and fall. It's so much fun.
I've got SLP tri-y headers (duh, in sig) and the setup is great. The only kink in my whole setup is that I'm running with a gutted cat. I need to insert a solid pipe.
Nothing can compare to the setup but I'll agree that it doesn't make any more power than most of the cheaper systems. Definatly don't go with blowmaster unless you don't mind making less power. They have been proven to slow down a fast car, they just sound really good (it's still growing on me). The hooker setup is nice, so is a cheap 3" pipe going back into a 3" summit welded muffler (dynomax super turbo model) out a 3" with a turn down .

As for exhaust, Borla is by FAR the best overall quality ... sounds better ( I think ) and gives you a lot longer warranty.

SLP catback is an excellent exhaust as well, all stainless steel and sounds great, but pricey also, paid $399 for mine.

If you want something for life get Borla.

If you want to save some $ for other mods, there are other ones out there.

I'm happy with my Hooker, but I'd take Flowmaster over Borla too.

I agree with this guy. I had to sell my SLP

I now have a Flowmaster Force II kit with a Borla Pro XS 3" muffler and single Borla 4" tip. I get compliments all the time.

Re: Borla Exhaust

Has anyone here used the corsa exhaust systems I've watched a few Vids on boobtube not being on a 3 Gen camaro which I have but on some vettes with the same engine the l98 sbc and I like the sound at idle and also on the lower rpms I like it's not the typical rumble sound you would associate with muscle cars and we all know that sound "love it btw" but it's not what I'm looking for with my baby I want her to have more of that sleeper sound where she wont make people think she's a something beefy. Opinions are always welcomed

Corsa does not make 3rd gen compatable systems and I don't think they offer the right parts to put one together yourself either. Keep in mind that the C4 and 3rd gen exhaust systems are so different, they will not sound the same, even with the same mufflers.

Look into Magnaflow - 409 stainless and sound really nice. Borla is too overpriced for what you are getting, IMO.

Re: Borla Exhaust

The reason I ask about the corsa system is because them make a set for the l98 motor which is the same motor that both the 3rd Gen and c4s had if you had the 350 3rd gen would it not match up with the headers if it's the same motor just in to different cars by the same company

No

Totally different chassis, wheelbase, pipe routing...

F-body is a y-pipe with cat under passenger seat into 1 pipe running down the passenger side over a solid axle into a muffler and splitting into 2 exhaust pipes.

Corvette is a system that connects into a y-pipe that goes into a cat under the middle of the car that runs back to split into 2 pipes, with a muffler on each side due to the independent rear.

The cats are exactly the same between cars, but other than the same motor, they are not cross-compatible.

paul has already answered this for you

but i figured id chime in as well, I do believe corsa makes a 4th gen exhaust, which will fit our cars with modifications to the hanger locations, of-coarse the LS1 will sound different through the exhaust than an L98, but the system will physically fit under the car and give you the "corsa sound"

you dont match a catback to your motor(fitment wise), you match it to the underside of the car

Totally forgot to mention the 4th gen system, although the focus was on the C4/Y-body system compatibility...

Re: Borla Exhaust

+1 for Borla. $130.00 for their 3 in. sportsman mufflers. I got mine slightly used for $100.00 shipped. As for the rest of the exhaust, you should try putting it together yourself and save a butt load of cash. Check out mandrel-bends.com, they have kits that you can pretty much build a cat-back with. They also have their kits in different sizes and materials to choose from AND they're mandrel bent! no crush bending here .
