Hookers or Heddman?

There are two sets I'm looking at, they are about the same price, same dimensions, anyone know which would be a better buy for the money. they are $150

I would go hooker, I have the super comp shorties and will never buy anything else for short tubes. Only have one set of long tube and it is heddmans. I might try hooker long tubes when I need to replace them. (other car for the L.Tube)

But none of you is talking about the Hookers that are $150. Those are the Comp shorties that don't have a y-pipe available.

The Hedmans that are $150 don't come with a y-pipe either, but you can get one to fit them (unlike the $150 Hookers). However, it does sound like the y-pipe that comes with the $350 Hooker Super Comp shorties is a better piece (I haven't seen the Hedman y-pipe, just going by what I've heard about it, and knowing that the Hooker y-pipe is excellent).

I had the 141$ hooker shorties...no y pipe so i had one made...it was nasty...unless you have the money for the supercomps with the y pipe dont get em. I have the hedman longtubes now...looks like a quality header to me. especially for 104$

Hmm, how are you running the exhaust now? I'd like to save some $ and get some long tubes with duals, but not sure about emissions.... I asked for an extention 1 yr ago, and they haven't gotten back to me yet, I figure soon as I do something major to the exhaust they'll get me.

Maybe, I could lower the car a little if need be.

you cant lower the car with a dual setup it would sit on the ground. Im sure it would probably pass if you ran two cats.

Im gonna run hedman longtubs, S-extention, flowmaster h pipe,2 2 chamber flows with turn downs. should sound good but if you have emmissions...wait mark your car isnt going to pass with the mods your doing to it...exhaust isnt going to make a difference.

Maybe if I could install air shocks, can you put htem up front too? Cause if the car is too low, they'll waive you,t hen I could raise it back up.

Or maybe some hydros.

Hookers are better than hedman without a doubt in my mind. Use to be 10-15 years ago if you wanted headers the cheapest ones you could get were hedman's. Do you live in a emission tough area ? Even though I wish I would have gone with SLP's I got the Chrome Edelbrock's because 50 state smog legal chrome (not coated) headers at Summitt were only 341.00 with 3" exaust all the way to the cat. I modified mine to copy my dual cats in 3 inch design with twin 3 inch cats but the headers look soo cool !!!

The hedman longtubes arent bad at all I dont know why people would pay an extra 240$ for hooker longtubes. The hedmans need paint out of the box but no biggie. The only disadvantage to the hedman longtubes is they are 1 5/8'' instead of 1 3/4'' but 1 5/8'' is enough to make alot of HP. especially if your running duals.

I bought the heddman shorty headers with the y-pipe and have had no problem with them at all. I spent $330. on them and feel that is your best bang for your buck. You might be buying the name with Hooker. Hooker is a good name brand but they are pricy too. Not to take anything away from Hooker they are good headers but you have to ask is it worth the extra money.

The hedman longtubes bolt up pretty nice. Im running the true duals with and equalizer pipe and 2 chamber flows...its DAMN loud. Almost to loud (is that possible?)

Ive only heard one complaint about hedmans...everyone seems to really like them.

I have the hedman longtubes and they are nice. Good bends, fit good, and they were much cheaper than hooker LTs. Im not saying they are better but for most of us the hedmans is all we need.
