Just put full exhaust on...Edelbrock TES, Catco cat, and Edelbrock cat-back...deep, full, but smooth is the key word here...sounds real nice around 4000 RPM...it's not obnoxious at all...it's pretty classy if you ask me. Not tinny, just smooth...Edelbrock's website has some sound clips...not to bad representations. When I decided, it was between Hooker and Edelbrock...but from what people said, Hooker was pretty darn loud...and I don't live in a trailer and I wear shoes, so I figured I would go Edelbrock...and I wasn't disappointed. Dual outlets, lifetime warranty, flows a ton...sounds good to me! Good luck in your search. If I can help you more, e-mail me at Baron321@aol.com

My Edelbrock catback sounds pretty good, although around 3500-4000 RPMs it kinda makes a crackling sound. Other than that I like it, even though it's a little on the loud side for me. It has a deep resonance in the car when cruising although not loud enough to be bothersome. And at WOT you know it! I'm running the Hooker Super Comp long tubes and no cat behind my 400sb. By the way, their 3" I-pipe is not a full 3 inches, it's just under.
Thanks for all the replies and MP3. I checked the web site and didn't know if the LT1 sounded different. I have a conv. so I don't want it obnoxious. What are your opnions(sp) about it under this condition.

I have it too. So far it's the only exhaust mod, everything else is stock. To be honest, mines not very loud at all. Theres a nice deep tone to it between 1800-2800 rpms, but when i stomp on it, i cant hear it at all(probably because the T-5 is so noisy). I like it though because it looks stock, headers and a catco or dynomax cat should help the sound out too. just my .02

Well, it's been pretty junky weather, but as soon as I get the T-tops off, I'll let you know. By the way, if you weren't planning to get full exhaust, just do it, man. Huge performance gain, great sound. Simple as that.

You get yourself down here, brother...where cruising is a statewide activity...the highways are long, the mountains pretty, the air warm, the speed limit 70, and the bowties all over the place!

Engine: This
Transmission: New Stuff
The sound is great. I think the others will agree that it is very distict. There are enough cars with flows out that all sound the same.
Good and robust at idle. (yeah robust-first time i used that word-.....wierd!)
Under accelleration it is loud- good and noticable, but not annoying. Does sound a bit poppy in the high end, but still nice.
On the highway and when the rpm doesn't change it is like a low moan with little separation.
I love it- it stands out! and good quality.

'88 RS (originally 2.8)
New 350, .040 over, ported vette L98s, ported stock tpi.
Old 305 injectors & chip
TES headers, 3.73 gears, 700r4.
Best with 2.8-17.4@77mph
Best with 305-15.0@93mph
Best with 356-yet to race
(Damn the 2.8!)

I think catbacks serve a multitude of purposes. They increase the car's fun-to-drive factor. They make people think things about your car, and usually as a result of that, you. Edelbrock makes it fun to drive. And, it's not obnoxiously loud. News flash, Slowmaster guys...not everybody likes people who run 40 series, etc. that's just plain noisy. If you rev the Edelbrock high enough, it certainly can make some noise, but only if you want it to. Edelbrock is a smooth choice, makes you distinctive, and has some serious dignity. Go for that and some headers and new cat...you'll like it

Thanks for explaining it. If I wanted to be like everyone else, I would have bougth a muststang, not a purple conv. BTW, Baron, go with the STB, I just put mine on and what an improvement. It stiffened it up as much as the SFC. I still want that ride this spring.
