Well, if you sand ALL the "mill scale" off the headers when you get them, and paint the headers with a good high temp paint (Such as VHT 1500) It should protect them a lot better, so they do not rust out after just a couple years
Im not sure how well the paint will actually hold up, but I do plan on finging out.

I just picked up a pair of Headman Headers #68460 for $110.00 through Summit . They are the full length headers.
Ive got them all sanded down, and coated up real nice and this paint looks like it should hold up pretty well, especially after they have had a chance to cure on the car (Unless you have an oven you can bake the painted headers in)

The paint may make the headers look better for a little longer, and prevent some rust for a little while, that's all.

As far as your budget, I'm not aware of any shorties for $120 w/ y pipe. You will need a new y pipe with headers. If you're on a budget you may want to look into Flowtech headers, though I wouldn't recommend them for a 350.

iroc350z-where are you getting the hedman's from? And, do they have the air injection fittings/tubes? I've not been able to find a part number for a set with the air tubes yet.

I was seriously thinking about the Edelbrock's with the nickle plating for $341.99 from Jeg's, but would much rather have the thermal barrier coating than the nickle coating.
