What manual transmission will fit best with hedman longtubes?

This years winter project is going to be a manual transmision swap. I'm finishing up the engine right now, and it has hedman longtubes. I've heard way too many problems with the t5, so i'm not even going to mess with that. Is there any manual tranny that will not interfere with my headers at all??
Thanks alot
aaron

no manual tranny should interfere with your headers, the shouldnt extend past the bellhousing anyways, even if they do have a y-pipe or what not, it shouldnt have any clearance problems

He said long tubes, they'll probably interfere with the clutch cylinder.

Others here have managed to get them to work with a T5 with a little modification, if you search you should be able to find something.

no they wont, i have hooker super comp full length headers (read signature)and mine dont interfere with the slave cylinder, albeit it is kinda close...but thats why it has a heat shield on it....also, obviously if your gonna use a long tube/full length design you should use the part number for your car which is least likely to interefere with anything....like the ones i have

1-3/4 primaries with long 3" collectors....no problems

He's got Hedmans, not Hookers, they don't come down nearly as far.

im not sure if you mean the hedmans come down further or the hookers....if anything came down lower than my headers theyd be on the ground so im assuming that you mean the hedmans down as far.....

if they are gonna be a fitment problem then i dont see why anyone would by them....get a part that fits. i know hooker, flowtech, and some others have part numbers that specifically fit 3rd gens with manual transmissions

hedmans may be hard to fit on a manual tranny...they come up very very close to my 700r4. They tuck in alot closer than the hookers do. There is barely enough room to put a 2.5 S bend between the headers, tranny tunnel, and bellhousing,

Thats interesting really....however the 700r4 or any automatic trans for that matter is much larger than its corresponding manual counterpart.....the 700r4 is probably 30% larger than a t5 or 25% larger than a tremec. so that would be a reason for your problem....even the bellhousing itself for a manual has a steeper angle from the block flange to the trans mounting flange, which makes it take up less space in the trans tunnel

I just picked up a set of 68460 Hedman long tube headers and I can promise you they will not clear my set up. I'm running the stock T5 with a Lakewood scattershield and the headers definitely interfere with the slave.

The reason for responding to this old subject is I'm trying to do a little research and figure out what part numbers some of you guys are running. I don't like the Hooker Super Comp part number 2210 because of how the drivers side header turns to face the passenger side of the car.

If anybody has any other part numbers that they'd like to share I'd appreciate it. I don't have to worry about emissions and plan on having a y pipe fabbed to go with whatever long tubes I'm able to find that will work.
