keep 3" exhaust or go with dual....Need suggestions

I have an 89 ta if you couldnt guess and i have put hooker headers, aftermarket y pipe, free flow cat, and 3" exhuast with a flowmaster muffler and 3" tips. Now i have found out through a friend that i can go with a 2.5 dual exhuast dual muffler set up. Which one would be best for performance. I know the dual will be louder. Im torn...suggestions please.

Dude, its not worth the hassle. These cars were not designed to have dual exhaust and it just doesnt work right without having do some crazy mods to the car or worrying about dragging exhaust all the time.

If you really need more flow than a 3in single exhaust, jsut go with a mufflex 3.5 in system or a mufflex 4 in all in the stock pipe routeing.

Probably the only difference would be sound of the dual exhaust. I love the sound of duals with an Xpipe or Hpipe, but in my opinion, its not woth it on a thirdgen.

when I get an 8 I;m getting duals just because the sound is so much better than any single I;ve ever heard. It is a PITA though, but IMHO its worth it.

Go with dual 2.5 piggybacked on exsisting ex path. its worth it! makes the car sound like a real muscle car. I had my exhaust done by a muffler shop and it cost me 225$ including 2
18 inch glasspacks. but that was with stock exhast manifolds. so headders may be cheaper or a little more but you wont believe that the car is yours after its done.

Hey ssChevy with the setup you were only capable of running mufflers from the back without tips huh? Do you think its possible for me to keep my 3" tips?

no no, i have big 1 1/2 foot tips on my car i wish i had a pic on the net But i have killer tips on there. they stick out the back about 4 inches. My friend at the muffler shop
showed me some 12 inch glasspacks a few days ago so that would even work better that 18's.
