Why Does My Flowmaster Sound Like Crap?

IT's an 88 Iroc. I bought it with some kind of Flowmaster muffler. Sounds amazing at idle, but sounds like a damn 305 or worse yet a v6 when I rev it. Then this kid I know has a 305 Camaro with a Flowmaster that sounds really deep all the time. What's the deal with that? How many different mufflers do they make?

------------------
1980 Camaro, '88 Police 350 engine, Headers, full exhaust, completely redone, my baby!
1988 Iroc-Z L98, MSD 6a, Accel coil, K+N's, Airfoil, Coolant Bypass, Flowmaster, Gears, Late model Bose, I like the 80 better

well I don't know what crap sounds like but they make alot of different mufflers. but if yours is a crossflow then that narrows it down quite a bit because then the only differece is pipe diameter. but if it is just a sigle in and out thier are alot of options. go to thier website.

www.flowmastermufflers.com

it has a description of all thier muffler lines.

Is your cat clogged? That could be hindering some air flow! I had a friend who had the same symtoms with his. Idle sounded great WOT sounded like a pick-up.

An 80 Series or 40 Series dual outlet with 3in. pipes and high flow converter, or the Flowmaster AT exhaust system, nothing sounds better on a modded or not street legal 350. How do I know, because I've heard them.

The car I want.

84 TRANS AM 305 H.O.
Another car that would be OK to own while I still look for the IROC-Z!!

Do you have a cat on your car? I have heard that Flowmasters sound awesome when you do have a cat, but sound like crap when you have it removed/gutted.
