Another Hooker Catback question

Does the hooker catback have a reducer on the 3 inch pipe? There are several models available which one does not have the reducer and will fit on a 3inch cat?

My friend installed one from Jegs on his 85 Z28 and it had a 3" to 2.5" reducer on it. I think it was the 82-85 305 kit.

Thanks for the info, I wonder if the 86-up does not have the reducer on it, does anyone that has purchased this know?

I got the one thats for the 86+ HO models, and it does NOT have the reducer on it, it's 3" all the way from cat to muffler.

You want the one listed for 86-92 single cat 5.0/5.7 TPI cars. That model is 3" w/ no reducer. Have it on my 87Z, bolted up to the stock 3" cat and to the Catoco high flow 3 incher that I put on. 85s originally had some kind of different cat hookup though (maybe it was only on the y-pipe end, I don't know), I assume you aren't running the stock cat setup or something...

I got the proper model for my LG4 and it did have the reducer on it as it was supposed to. They basically have what you need whatever your application is. A word of caution: Although the hangers line up with the stock hangers, they aren't necessarily the same. I had to improvise to get the Hooker hanger to work with the car. Not difficult, but don't get cuaght with your pants down.

Hypertech chip, 180* stat
Dual snorkel air cleaner with K&N air filter
CK rods with B hanger

How does that hook up to the cat? Is it a slip fit or some other method? I'm also looking at the Hooker catback and plan on using no cat, so a slip fit adaptor will work best for me.
