Ok for one i know u guys could give a $hit about my 71' Duster but i've been given so much help from u guys i was hoping if u can help me just this once on the duster. The car has a 340 cu inch motor w/mopar electronic ignition,Edelbrock vic. jr. intake,holley 650 4 barrel carb. Accel plugs and 8.8 mm wires,Heddman headers(long tube headers)904 auto tranny,Everything else is stock never been rebuild or even work to the stock heads. Now as i was in the racetrack i've seen many people with dual flowmasters and they sound gay. My flowmaster that i have on are pretty old and need new ones. My question is if i order new 40 series flowmaster mufflers, obviously dual will it sound any good. I just want to run the muffler after the headers. Flowmaster doesnt make an exhuast system for my car. Will the 40 series sound good. I ordered the flowmaster with the 3 inch inlet and outlet and collectors. How will it sound anybody w/ experiences or suggestions. I really aprreciate all your help guys thanks.

i think so...i had dual 40's on my old road runner and sounded great when i had them on, and with the lopey cam awesome.

I wish I knew what is on our motorhome. It has longtube headers on a 360 with dual exaust. Small block mopars are the best sounding smallblocks hands down. My uncle has a '75 duster. I wish I could fix that thing up, but I know it would start a sh!tstorm with my know-nothing cousins. 4 boys and no-body wants it!!!! ahhhhh!!!!!

 

The more I think about it, the more I want it. I'm gonna ask my dad to see if I can get it. All it needs is some rims(fats and skinnys), exaust, some 4thgen seats, and its fine by me.

there is a guy running around town in duster with a 340. it is far from stock. big roller cam. he has duals with the 40 series flowmasters and it is one of the best sounding dily drive cars I have ever heard. but I think it has a bit to do with the huge cam.

 

Hope mines sounds good. To bad i have the stock cam. I run open headers at this point in time and really want even louder. I dont think the 40 series is gonna make that happen oh well i just ordered it and should get it this wed. or tues.

well I am glad to know that I am not the only one that has owned a 71 duster...Mine died due to elec failure and I did not want to rewire the whole car...Damn old chyslers and their electrical gremlins. Other than that the car was great, I bought it for 200 bucks and it was a daily driver for almost a year before it died.

 

im glad too that im not the only one owning a duster. Too bad i didnt get to many responses as i was hoping oh well.

you will be happy with it. I had an 89 truck with a stock motor with daul 40 series. at Idle it did not sound to impresive but when I tached it out It sounded sweet. I called it my not rod. it sounded bad *** but didn't really have much power. maybe 250hp with 35" boggers. like I said though the guys duster I was talking about would give you a hard on if you heard it.

thats loud huh. Im sure it sounds nice but like i said i run open headers and the car sounds nice when i gun it but in idle it sounds sort of rice will the 40 series remedy that.

hehe 40 series will remedy anything.
even O2 sensors that run your car rich after you gut your cat. no comment there, just word of experience.

yeah I personally doen't like open headers unless it is full blown race built engine. big cam lots of compresion. I have a 66' chevelle. I have 350, trick flow heads, cam .500 lift .300 duration. just didn't do it for me opened up. loud but didn't lope enough to be opened up. I put dul 50 series flow's on it cause I thought 40 series might be a bit much and I loved the way it sounded. sweet idle but not to loud and when you landed on it is sounded sweet. I did wish that I went 40 series though cause for as much as I drive it I wouldn't care how loud it is.

Just installed the 40 series dual mufflers and it sounds as if i were driving "BIG FOOT". Sounds a little mild than what i expected than the noise level changed. At first it wasnt that loud than after an hour of driving started sounding deep. Does it take time for a flowmaster to hear its full potential, if so how long??????????????
