just got dynomax exahaust and ordered catco converter questions w/in

ok i just got my new dynomax cat back ordered for my 85 trans am 305 TPI. I was looking at my converter (stock) and i noticed that the the converter port (near the flange) is round and the one on my cat back is oval. So i said F*ck it and i went ahead and ordered my catco high flow converter. Will the port on the end of the converter match the oval one on my new exahaust. I bouthg the dynomax as stock replacement for an 85 trans am Lb9 and i did the same with the converter. I am assumeing they wil both work but i need to know for sure. Thanx -Mike

Sounds to me like you ordered or received the Dynomax catback for a 305HO (aka L69). that is the wrong Catback for your car. The L69 came with a monblock corvette widemouth catalytic converter with a four bolt oval flange (darn that was a lot of words.

i dont have the l96 but i do have the HO LB9 motor. Wouldnt that have the same? I just ordered the converter the way i did the exahaust. Told them it was for an 85 trans am, engine code "f" with a TPI 305.

will do! i can already tell u that the dynomax exahaust system is a great set up especially for 155$ after shipping/handleing. It gives u all the clamps and the pipes look very good. The converter should be here tomorrow hopefully so ill let u guys know what happens-MIke

who did you purchase it from?

Is the pipe after the cat 3" or is it "stepped up" to 3" after the cat?

Did it come with the bracket that goes from the cat to the tranny?

Thanx,
James

james-the whole system is acctually a 2 1/2 inch system. A 3 inch system might be a little to much for a car thats under 350hp. The pipe is all mandral bent. I got it from summit(the 10% off discount in effect ) and i ended up paying 155$ after shipping and whatnot. Also the system does not give u the braket that goes between the tranny and converter, that would be something u would need to go to a dealer for. I got the converter in today, i think i have some problems........see new post
