edelbrock exhaust question

I have a stock 84 trans am with L69 engine. The stock exhaust system has holes all over the dammm thing. I am planning on getting edelbrock tes headers, catco cat, and the edelbrock cat-back system. Besides sounding better, how much more power do you think I will get with this setup? should i get the headers coated even though i live in Arizona?

Well, I too live in sunny AZ. I have a set of Edelbrock headers on my '89 IROC and a set of Hookers SC/LT on my '87 IROC. Here in AZ it's so dry and dusty that the headers and exhaust systems don't rot away like in other areas of the US and Canada. Mine are not coated, just hi-temp painted. Coating them will preserve them and give a nice look to them as well as cut down some of the heat dissipated from them.

If you have the extra $$ you can get Edelbrock headers now in a nice nickel coating direct from Edlebrock. Check out their website at:

www.edelbrock.com

SLP makes some good stainless headers as well.

These shorty-type headers may add a few extra ponies, but not a whole lot. I'd say about 15 hp. Maybe a little bit of low end torque too. What they really do is add a nice exhaust note and rumble to the car throughout the rpm range.

Great mod, go for it!!
