Peoples with dynomax ultra flow weld

Does someone here have the dynomax ultra flow weld muffler on his thirdgen? I have one on my GTA and I'm planning to remove the cat. How should it sound? It curently sound very deep at idle and between 3500rpm and 4500rpm it sound like a nascar. (very cool sound) But I want it LOUDER. If I remove my cat, can I hurt that deep mellow sound that my car have or it will just sound better???

What do you think???

Thanks for your comments

i took out my cat, then put on my flowmaster exhaust, and it was twice as loud. It isn't really loud at idle, but when i get on it, it is extremely loud. But i also have the american thunder flowmaster system, which is single out muffler, so i don't know if that will be different from a dual outlet muffler. I think single out sounds alot better, and louder, but doesn't look have as nice as a daul outlet muffler.

I've got the Welded Ultra Flow # 17227 on mine without the cat. It's as quiet at idle as the Super Turbo it replaced,, and only slightly louder at cruise rpm. Deep low rumble,, not really loud,,, until you stick your foot in it!!!! Then it's much louder than the Super Turbo,, which works out fine for me.

BADSS,Thats just what I wanted to hear.I used to have the CVX and I loved it.I really want to put a Dynomax system on my car.Could you please post anymore about the system.Only thing I would do is weld some bigger tips on the ends. But the system is far cheaper than the FLowmaster,I am also looking at the Hooker. How do you like it more than the turbo ?Could you please post those part#s again,I will probably order this week.I got to thank you,If you would not have posted those part#s I wouldnt even have known Dynomax made a system

The ultra flow weld for 3rd gen does not come in kit. You have to call the parts separatly.

Ultra flow weld muff:
#17227

3''I-Pipe:
#44063 with #43248

2''1/2 Tail pipes
#43252 and #43253

These are the part numbers from the old 3" kit that Dynomax use to sell where both tailpipes exited the driver side rear. They're 2.25" pipes also. The 2.5" right and left side pipes are numbers 43243 and 43244. (44063, 43248, and 17227 are correct).

Here is a picture of the system before it was installed.

As far as performance, I have not used the Vericom (G-tech), or taken it to the track yet to validate seat of pants,, but it feels like it lost a little down low, pulls about the same in the mid range,, and a little better on the top end (about what I figured). Before I increase the fuel pressure, it felt sluggish at all RPMs coming from my friend's muffler shop.

It's a little raspy,, definite "hint" of the glass-pack design. If you liked the CVX or like the Borla sportsman mufflers,, this 17227 is very similar. This sound track is from the Dynomax site of an “off-road” Rustang. However, it’s a comparable to the sound of the 17227.
