Any recommendation on getting off 11 year old bolts?

I'm going to be gutting my cat this weekend, but the bolts on there are like 12 years old. The head immediately stripped, and the threads literally fell off when touched with a screwdriver. I have tried a few penetrants, and am about to just saw the bolts, but I would rather not if possible.

You might want to apply a little bit of heat to it. Either run the car for a minute or use a torch to heat everything. This may work, it may not but it's worth a try.

Good Luck!

11 years is nothing. I helped a buddy of mine yank the motor from a 140000 mile Chevelle last month-you would not believe how rusted every bolt on that car was. Anyway, you'll definitely need to heat them and use a penetrating oil. What we did was use an oxy-acetelene torch to heat the bolts red hot, then we sprayed Liquid Wrench on the bolts and put the wrenchs to them. It took 2 to 3 cycles of this to break the bolts loose, especially the ones exposed to high heat, like on the exhaust. Hope this helps.

The key to using PB Blaster is to let it soak in for 20-30 minutes. I got mine at local Meijers Superstore.
