I need Quick help from all exhaust guru's!!
My exhaust system has finall begun to rot out (not bad for a twelve year old car). Since I'm replacing atleast the from the cat back I want to switch the system over to a true duel exhaust or atleast one immediatly after the cat. But would prefer the first. Does anyone know if this is capable? I thought some of the IROC's came with a duel setup but I couldn't find anything. What cars have a duel exhaust that will fit in ours? What kind of problems have you guys run into with duels if you've run them? Any help would be appreciated though. Right now I would just like to pull a system from a junkyard car and then attach on a new muffler and pipes from the cats back.
Thanks,
mike

I don't have a dual exhaust so I couldn't help you with problems that might arise, but as far as a stock dual exhaust the closest thing to that is the dual cats (RPO N10) and those are pretty rare. I don't think there is a bolt up dual setup for our cars. If you do decide to go down that road, it's going to be a custom job. IMO You would be better suited with a 3" cat back.

I think I've seen more than a few posts on this site about duels. It might be worth doing a search re same.
I'd also say go with the 3 inch cat-back. I just got one on mine and it runs and sounds real good with the headers.

dual not duel. The exaust isn't gonna fight to defend the honor of the clutch fork.

Yeah, so I've had two worthless responses (thanks to camaroguy for trying though)... Anyone that knows anything about exhaust systems? I've done the search and all of the dual exhaust threads say to do a search... screw it, Help me or don't answer.
I appreciate comments, but not stupid ones.

whoa there. take a deep breath and calm down. now, what i had done before was headers, to true duals ran underneath the rear axle and comming out the back. i had to dent under the drivers side a little bit to make room for a converter, but nothing to major. the other converter was in the stock location. it did a good job while it was on but im very **** about my cars and i didnt like the way the pipes looked running underneath the axle, so i went back to a dual cat, to a 3 inch stock style exaust with a flowmaster dual outlet 80 series muffler.

awesome man thanks for the help. I jacked it up and looked at it a little more tonight and noticed that running along side the driver side is going to be nearly impossible since the only spot to run the exhaust with how low the car is would be in the driveshaft area, the problem with that is that it looks like the torque arm is going to get in the way. Does anyone know of any cars that carry a dual exhaust setup that will bolt directly into the camaro's existing spot? I'm beginning to think that it isn't going to happen since they would have probably put that system in instead.
I'm trying to understand though how you put in a dual cat on a single running pipe. Did you do them inline of each other? Would that hurt performance?
Thanks, Mike

The dual cat setup consists of a single pipe running from each manifold, they continue seperatly entering into 2 cats side-by-side and then exit the cats and the pipes y back together into a single pipe. This system is very rare and very uncommon in bone yards. I would just go with the big 3" I-pipe after a good flowing cat, or if you can do it legally, just replace your cat with some more 3" pipe. This would seem to be a good type of system for any 3rd gen, if you can ditch the catty without getting in trouble. It depends on where you live, so check around. Hope I have been of some help to you.

If you find a good exhaust guy and channel your rear floor boards, you can do it. It will hang down lower than stock, but just drive like you are sain over speed bumps and such and you should have no problem. I personally have dual 3in under my car and it almost never rubs.

id like to add, my car did NOT come stock with dual cats. i had a performance exaust (some family owned backwoods shop) build be a custom front y-pipe with the dual cats. and there was absolutely no difference in power between the dual exaust system and the one i have now. i do think the dual sounded a little louder though since it had two mufflers.
