which headers ran 1-5/8 and 1-1/2...

ok i saw a few posts back that i think it was edlebrock TES or HEDMAN where the outer 2 cylinders where 1-5/8 and the inners were 1-1/2, is this true, and if so please explain.
i have a friend who is selling his 1-1/2" headers and i would buy them if this was true and if i could get a ypipe for it, thanks.

Older Edelbrock TES had the different sized tubing. The newer ones are all 1 5/8.

I would recommend at least 1 5/8 for a mild 5.7 (no heads or big cam changes). You will need a 1 3/4 for any serious mods.

Plan ahead, and STAY AWAY from those little headers.

Those little headers might not be as bad as you think. In CHP i think it was, they did a header dyno shootout. Guess what size headers made the best overall power. The 1 1/2 primaries, i think it was on a SB 350, with somewhere around 400 horspower. This not the norm though, I can find the mag if someone is interested in the exact details.

The 1 5/8 are best for 350s up to 400 horsepower, going by the dyno tests ive read over the years.

For $75 you can't go wrong...but do you want to swap headers again in a year

I'd pass.....those headers may make better power than the stock manifolds, but to me their not worth the hassle of installing.

Heres an idea. Buy them for $75 and re-sell them here in the for sale section for $150. Then your $150 closer to real headers

BTW- Make sure the Y-Pipe comes with them or forget about buying them. They require a specific Y-pipe, and fabbing one will cost you about $150 if you take it to an exhaust shop.
