Complete exhaust sytem?
Complete exhaust sytem?
I have a 89 firebird that used to have a 2.8 and 700r4 in it.. I put in a 350 and th350 tranny. Right now its sitting with summitt headers but I can't seem to find any parts to fit those. I have absolutely no exhaust except the headers (I'm not driving the car)
I live in the middle of nowhere and the isn't anyone around here that can put an exhaust on this for me...
Here's my question.. Where can I go online to get a complete exhaust system for this car? Even if I have to buy new headers I don't care... But it needs to be the whole system.. everything.. and it would be nice if it required no welding..
I'm not in this for the performance (right now) I just need to get the car on the street as I have no transportation right now.
Any links would be aprreciated...

I would go with Flowmaster or Borla, which u can get at JEGS or Summit.

SURPRISE! Nice of Summit to do that, eh? How much are you willing to spend? You will need new headers if you can't get a custom y-pipe made. Does it have to be smog legal? (do they have emmissions laws in the middle of nowhere?)
Make sure when you purchase the headers you also get the y-pipe. You can get a high flow cat for $100(if you even need that), and cat-back exhaust ranges from about $150-700

No emissions laws here. In fact my brother has a 85 camaro that had the same headers and a true dual system on it. He is replacing the exhuast and gave me the exhaust (minus the headers which where pretty much destroyed) But the dual system he had would not bolt up to mine (i think his headers were bent).
So what I am gathering here is I need to buy headers a Y pipe and then buy a cat back system.. (I don't need a cat, but what would I put in its place?)
Thanks everyone for the help..

Just put a pipe in its place. Im sure you can buy an offroad pipe somewhere on the net. Welding a pipe of the right diameter would be easier and cheaper though.
If would recommend borla exhaust, it is my favorite--it can have a cutout if you want, or go 100% through the muffler, and anything in between. It is pricey, though. If you want something quiet, go with dynomax. Flowmaster will turn heads. Aluminized stuff rusts, if that is a problem in your area.
For headers, SLP is the best, and the most expensive..it doesn't come with a y-pipe either. Edelbrock comes with a y-pipe, but it likes to rust if not coated. Just read around, there is tons of info here.

Man, run true duals...a friend of mine did it with a 89 formula he had no bender and ran true dual 3" with no tailpipes. that y-system exhaust is gonna kill the performance potential of your motor

I'm gonna have to disagree. He's not doing enough motor work to necesitate the use of Duals. That and the ground clearance issue is still a problem. There's no sense in REDNECKING the exaust. I know, I like in a recneck town. Gawd, everything here has glasspacks and 5" Echo (yeehaw) tips.
If you're worried about power loss, Just go with Hooker supercomps and full mufflex like me. And I'm pushing 520hp at the flywheel with A/C and cruise control. T-56'ed too.
