heddman long tubes
What did people do about their exhaust who have heddman longtube headers for our cars? My headers end right next to the oil pan so they can hook straight up to something but it doesn't look like a y pipe would fit because the space for the cat is right next to the headers basically. It looks like i have to run some kind of true dual some how. What did other people do.. i wish i had a pic.
*actually i got some pics but not when the engine is in the car but you can get a sense of what i mean

Please don't take this as a flame.
But...
This is basic system design investigation that should take place before a single piece is ordered. A very little reading on this forum would have told you that long tubes are not an easy fit into a 3rd gen chassis. Your choices are limited, and all of them are custom piping. Hopefully you know of an exhaust shop that will be willing to put the car up on a lift and start bending pipe to fit the headers and to some degree fit up in the available chassis routing to get the exhaust gases out from under the car - without destroying ground clearance (one guy has fab'd up a dual system that basically follows the stock routing and uses two tubular mufflers behind the rear axle). Hopefully, this will cost less than your engine build.
You might want to consider abandoning the long tubes and getting some shorties that will allow you to use more factory-like routing.
Just curious, how do you plan on being able to close the hood with the new engine?

Thanks for your advice.. i was trying to get that laneswheels exhaust but he doesn't ship it out. I'll just have to figure something out. As for the hood, i bought a 3 1/2 cowl that fits now. The stock hood didn't come close.

I am going to go 3 inch duals back to the tailshaft then cross over to a 4 inch y pipe. Then 4 inch over the axle into a 4 inch flowmaster with a 4 inch tailpipe. Then again I have a buddy that has a lift and exhaust bender in his garage.

I use the Hedman LT's along with a custom dual setup. Definitely have to find a muffler shop that will bend everything how you want it. Go in with whoever is doing the bending and tell them exactly where you want the pipe. I'm in the process of building a double hump crossmember because where the pipes bend underneath the crossmember is absolutley the lowest point underneath of the whole car.
