SMOG Pump... needed in NY

Ok, I don't think we have emmissions testing here in NY, but I'm not sure. If I can, I'd love to yank the smog pump, and all that junk, and toss on some 1 3/4 non-air SLP's. Also, does anybody know what the stock setup is on a 87 IROC with a L98... one cat or two? I haven't even been under the car yet. It does have 3" Flowmaster Catback though. Headers would help that out a lot, wouldn't they? Anybody know about emmisions testing in NY? Thanks in advance...

Yes headers would definitely help. AFAIK NY does have emissions testing. And I believe the F bodies didn't come with the dual cat setup until 89.

Emissions testing would normally be done at inspection right? If so, we probalby don't, I've never had my other cars checked. Also, how hard is it to install headers? Thanks guys.

Depends on the make. People say the Edelbrocks are easy to install, which is why I bought them for my car. Others, like SLP, are more expensive and from what I've read, requires lifting one side of the engine for installation.

Yes we do, but I believe it's just a visual inspection for us upstate folks.
