True duals or sidepipes?

Is it possible to put true dual exhaust on my 1984 Trans Am? I am putting a chevy 350 in it and I really don't feel like putting emissions or cat on it. I don't have to pass emissions, so it really doesn't matter. I was going to put on my original 305 exhaust manifolds, but the bolt holes won't line up, so I have to modify the exhaust system now to fit my needs. Me and my friend think there might be a way to have a set of sidepipes come out right behind the doors. If anyone has done this to their car, please give me some tips or advaice how to do it?

Why would want to do that? More flow does not mean more HP. Running side exiting pipes, your car might sound like a milk truck!

I will have mufflers on it. I wouldn't be able to drive it on the street if it didn't have mufflers on it. I had heard that there is no possible way to run true duals under 3rd generation f-body's. I just wanted to know if anyone had tried it or something similar?

i gave up on the dual exhaust thing. i wanted to keep my ground clearance to a maximum, and true dual will only fit over axle if you use 2 2.5" pipes in stock location. without expensive fab work and found that a single 4" is plenty of pipe for 1 3/4 primary tubes on the headers. any thing bigger and it is just your headers that are still restricted. i guess it is all personal preferance.....but i think my single 4" from hooker long tubes will be adequate for my 420 ci small block.

but again...it is all personal pref. and you must decide how much you really want to go through to get what you want.

have any of you guys seen the dynomax dual exhaust setup for our cars? I don't know if they are side exit pipes or rear exit, but I am going to find out. Does anybody know where these systems exit?

Dual 3" here, Hooker super comps, front of car lowered 1" and I have no problems with scraping. You can go with single 4" and be ok, but man do duals sound different and a whole lot better! Just an opinon
