Mine bolted on with no mods. I did have to buy (2) sets of mandrel bent turndowns, cut them and make a drop down pipe to hook up the exhaust.I did this because the headers dump directly into the tranny X member(if you hads straight pipes that is), I didn't want to let a muffler shop kink, and crimp some because I am running 3" duals. But, all in all, they are pretty good headers for the $$$

where are you getting a 3" y-pipe from? thats the only thing I hold against Heddman is the 2 1/4" ( might be 2.5"?) y-pipe. not that it really matters right now since I still have the stock cat, but I had hoped to be able to upgrade the rest of the exhaust easier and cheaper than it will be now.

nevermind, read message again and saw 3" collector

Texas,
since the collectors are 3" the y-pipe starts at 3" so it will bolt up...it slowly diminsishes down to 2.5" though but hey its 99 bucks

My heddmans fit just fine on my IROC. I spent no more than a couple hours bolting them up, although I had removed all emissions equipment before I began, and the passenger header was on the motor when I dropped it in. The only problem I had was fitting the y-pipe under my cast aluminum oil pan. I've got less than 1/8" of clearance so I can't run a clamp. One of these days I'll put a stainless band clamp on, but I seem to get no exhaust leaks so I don't get real worried about it.

So what is the size of the exit of the y-pipe for the non-smog headers? The y-pipe is part number 17470

I think you guys are talking about two different types of hedders - short and long tube. I'd suggest you state exactly which you are talking about. For instance, they don't make a y-pipe for their long tubes.
