I wanna sound like a 4th Gen

I am in the market for new exhaust and i want ti to sound like the exhaust on a 4th Gen F-Body. I want that rumbly "fuel injected" sort of sound even though I have a 4-barrel. I am looking into true duals so if you guys know of mufflers that sound like this that would be enough. I most definitely don't want the Flowmaster ******* truck sound. Thanks in advance.

OK, I didn't mean to insult any flowmaster users out there. They sound good, just not the sound Im after. When I say ******* truck sound, its because Ive seen a bunch of rusted *** pickups with flows on them. Ive also seen some pretty kick *** Camaros and Firebirds with them. Please accept my deepest apologies. Now answer my question please.

well the 4thgen tips seem to give a distinctive sound. A non-flowmaster thing to put would be Borla, Magnaflow, or SLP.

2 of my friends have magnaflow and it kicks ***. One has a '95z28 and the other has a '99z28.

my friend has slp's two on the left exhaust system on his 93 formula firbird, and it has a nice sound to it. you might want to put it on your car.

My car has a flow 80 series on it, but it still has the cat. It actually sounds somewhat similar to a 4th gen, but not quite as loud since its much less powerful. IMO Flows sound much better if you have a convertor that without, thats where they start sounding hollow. Around here all the truck hicks (no insult to truck owners, i'm just targeting one certain type) who are all loud just run glasspacks, which make all that crackeling popping racket. I always liked how the flowmaster sounded "clean" in comparison, and mines quite deep sounding at idle for a 305. Installed by a shop was definately worth the little extra $$ since i don't have a welder.

4bbl sound way better you wanna make it sound like a TPI(Your Nuts), a 4bbl can have an awsome sound take off the cat, if you have an early model and have borla exhaust, and sorry Flow master is one of the best sounding mufflers around. Plus 4bbl's have a much better rumble sound.

What??

Anyway, I think the Third Gens sound much better. I don't think I've heard of any1 wanting to sound like a 4th Gen before this.

the previous owner of my car took the 4the gen exhaust and put it under my car
including the tips, well at least it looks like 4th gen stuff
The square tips is what makes the car sound like a 4th gen, well that and the 350 under the hood of course

I had at the same time a 1996 Z28 and a 1989 Formula 350 (which I still have) both with the SLP 2OTL exhaust.

I think the LT1 sounded way better than the L98. That will change soon.....

I asked about this before. I thought mabey if I put vortec heads on my car it would sound similar to a 4th gen. I heard the higher compression makes a difference too. I think those cars have one of the best sounding exhausts myself.

My neighbor has a 93Z-28 and according to my wife and neighbors, my car sound better than his. I have the following, 1 5/8 SLP headers/ 3" pipe going into a Borla exhaust system w/interchangeable plates. You can try putting on a set of 4th gen Z-28 tips and it may or may not make much of a difference sound wise.
