better v6 sound

i have a 3.1 mpfi v6 and i was wondering what setup would most closely resemble that of a v8. i am less concerned with the actual flow of it as i am with the deep rumble of it. i want my car to at least sound powerful even though its not in any way.

I'm not trying to be mean, but why do you want your v6 to sound like a v8? Get a v8 if you want v8 sound.

I had a dynomax on my old V6. Not sure if it was the super turbo or the ultra flow though. It sounded more like an 8 than stock. At idle it was pretty deep, but once you got into the high RPM's you could tell it was a 6. I've also heard that Flowmasters sound good, but I haven't heard on a V6.

This is not meant to flame you or be mean or anything, but dont be a poser. If you want your car to sound like a V8 then buy/build one. The only thing that will result from you making your car sound like something that its not ois your going to get people revving on you. People you have no chance of beating in a race. There is a guy that lives near my girlfriend who has a 91 v6 and he put flows on it. It sounds alright i guess, its loud as all hell but it still sounds like a v6. He reved on me once and got his *** handed to him. He wants to think his car is a v8 but its not. Dont be like him. Get a 8, then get the flows/hooker/banks etc. You'll be in good shape.

I have yet to hear a V6 car that sounded like a V8, and that includes GNs. You can make your V6 car sound better than it does, but it still won't sound like a V8.

One of the better values out there for V6 exhaust is the Pacesetter catback from JC Whitney. ~$150, aluminized mandrel bent tubing, decent-sounding muffler with dual-opposite tailpipes. It'll still sound like a V6, though. Mufflers don't change the laws of physics.

I can still picture in my mind pulling up to the gas station in the '57 back when I was 18 (okay, that was 30 years ago). A farmer standing there asked me when I got out, "Do you have a 327 in that thing?" "Yes," I replied. "Thought so. Sounds like one," he said. It still had the factory 283 mufflers on it at the time.

I completely agree with Killogy, that's what I'm running now and it's great, a good deep tone. And it'll make her rumble at idle, and as everyone else has said, once you get up in the RPM range, I doubt anyone would mistake it for a V8, no matter what you're running.

So if a deep rumble is what you want, go with Dynomax Ultra Flow.
