Edelcrock tube exh.

You probably just need to add the tube for the hot air to the air cleaner.

I have the 6872 headers on my 90 Formula TBI and I've had no problems. They fit with no problem.

Are those the "shorties"? That's what I have...had no trouble putting them in.

The y-pipe has a 3" slip-fit connection to the cat inlet. Your TBI cat inlet is 2-1/4".

Get a direct-fit cat for '86-'90 TPI single cat application while you're at it. Cat-back for same application wouldn't be a bad idea. If you're going to modify something to make it fit, modify your current cat-back to the suggested new cat, not the y-pipe to your current cat.

From headers? Sure..it's about the simplest and most recommended start you can make. Probably worth 10-15 Hp (real hp..as opposed to the "I added 50HP when I painted my radiator support black" variety that some guys seem to buy in to).

I bought the #6872 headers to replace the #6875 set I had previously(TBI specific) for the larger pipes. I also got a new cat and an SLP 3" catback at the same time. You could really tell a difference in the feel and sound of the car going from 2.25" to 3".

Ya i believe it, and the 6872s have 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 primaries?

I gained .6 sec and 5 mph by putting those headers and 3" cat on my TBI car. If you have access to a die grinder, get rid of the air injection tubes that stick like 3/8" into the primarys and you can grind down the bead of weld at the flange/tube junction.

They're supposed to be dual diameter primaries but for all sense and purposes they are 1 5/8".

Grinded it off, how should I fill the holes? Get somebody to weld them closed?

Yeah if you took the air injection completely off, those holes will have to be welded closed. I wouldn't pay more than maybe $10 for the welding. Or find a friend.
