Will These Headers Fit onto my TBI?

Will These Headers Fit onto my TBI?

Well i am about to buy a set of edelbrock headers from a friend, part #6872, now it says it wont fit on a TBI camaro, yet im guessin its just saying that 2 be technical since its still a single cat and im guessing its the same exact routing, can anybody help me out with this? thanks.

You probably just need to add the tube for the hot air to the air cleaner.

I have the 6872 headers on my 90 Formula TBI and I've had no problems. They fit with no problem.

The y-pipe has a 3" slip-fit connection to the cat inlet. Your TBI cat inlet is 2-1/4".

Get a direct-fit cat for '86-'90 TPI single cat application while you're at it. Cat-back for same application wouldn't be a bad idea. If you're going to modify something to make it fit, modify your current cat-back to the suggested new cat, not the y-pipe to your current cat.

Ya i know this already, guy im buying it off of is also giving me the 3" cat slip in and out, I also bought another 3" pipe behind to fit onto the 2.5 part of my catback. So ya looks like thisll work thx a ton guys, can i expect a good power gain?

From headers? Sure..it's about the simplest and most recommended start you can make. Probably worth 10-15 Hp (real hp..as opposed to the "I added 50HP when I painted my radiator support black" variety that some guys seem to buy in to).

I bought the #6872 headers to replace the #6875 set I had previously(TBI specific) for the larger pipes. I also got a new cat and an SLP 3" catback at the same time. You could really tell a difference in the feel and sound of the car going from 2.25" to 3".

Ya i believe it, and the 6872s have 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 primaries?

I gained .6 sec and 5 mph by putting those headers and 3" cat on my TBI car. If you have access to a die grinder, get rid of the air injection tubes that stick like 3/8" into the primarys and you can grind down the bead of weld at the flange/tube junction.

They're supposed to be dual diameter primaries but for all sense and purposes they are 1 5/8".

Grinded it off, how should I fill the holes? Get somebody to weld them closed?

Yeah if you took the air injection completely off, those holes will have to be welded closed. I wouldn't pay more than maybe $10 for the welding. Or find a friend.
