Custom Y Pipe Flexible?
I have had trouble finding anybody down here that can do this type of work for me....
I saw at PepBoys that they had 2 1/2 inch flexible exhaust tubing.....I'm thinking, wow, can I fabricate what it is I need to hook up some headers?
Any ideas?

Some of that bendable exhaust tubing is pretty good stuff but it sure as hell won't pass emissions or inspection. Just get someone to bend some 2 1/2" tubing for you.

As a bona fide Tennessee hick, I can assure you that I've done the flexpipe thing on several vehicles and it sucks. It will be louder and tinny in the vicinity of the pipe, it will rot out quickly, and it will without a doubt leak unless it's welded in good. It should only be used as a quick fix until you can get to a muffler shop, or on a beater (I still retain an 18" flexpipe on one vehicle
). Have a shady shop custom fabricate the y-pipe for you without cats and be done with it. Just my $0.02.

I can rig something up with the best of them. I don't want to spend the energy on these if they will rot out on me though.
But hey, it was worth asking.

Maybe I gave it TOO much of a bad rap...if you're planning on getting set up with real exhaust pipe within the next six months or so, you can limp on it, but be prepared to deal with a high potential for noisy leaks that make it sound like a POS. Hell, I've seen the stuff last for almost 2 years
, but that's in mild southeast conditions. As a last resort, it's better than open headers!

Jethro...if it's good enough for you, then it certainly will work for me. Hey, nothing rusts down here anyhow...
Serious, I think I may give it a try. I am seriously choked off by the stock manifold on there. I have a Weiand stealth intake, edelbrock....can't remember the part number, Comp Cams 12-238-2 all on my L69. No computer junk and when I floor it, the air being sucked in the open element filter is intense.......Exhaust is all I'm short from having a real screaming machine....
