Will Edelbrock TES Headers, CATCO, and Edelbrock cat-back bolt up?

Just wanting to find out if any welding will be required or not. CATCO is the 9118 Direct fit. Would appreciate response if you have installed all or some of the above.

Thanks....Alex

my catback went bolted right up, really easy, I've put in on three times so far. I'm not sure how close the cat and the y pipe will end up being, If no one gives you a good reply then I recommend bolting up the y pipe last incase you have to add some pipe.

Hey I just bought the same set up last week waiting for it to come. EDEL 3" all the way back with the catco cat and EDEL Headers with 3" Y pipe. Let me know how you make out putting it in.

Firebird-

Gonna be a while before mine goes in. I have to pull motor out first (got a pretty replacement sitting in a crate right now). Based on searching the archives and a multide of articles I have gathered in chevy magazines, the edlbrockas are a pretty good buy. I got the new nickel/chrome plated TES - which hold up awesome, just turn slightly blue, CATCO and RPM cat back for $750 total, that's shipped - tough to beat that deal.

Actually I would say almost everyone on these boards will tell you that Edelbrock headers are the most restrictive. As far as the cat-back goes probably not a bad deal, but the Hooker is awesome, haven't seen anyone complain about it. The catco for the money appears to be the best.

Yeah,

I know what a lot of people on this board say about the Edelbrock TES, I have heard most of it. However, a lot of folks that have them are happy with them. Also, seems like a lot of the chevy magazines use them in conjunction with 400hp+ 350's. I think the whole setup is pretty darn good. The new chrome coated TES are pretty durable and will not rust. To get coated SLP that would be comprable would cost me twice as much as I paid for the TES. So what if you are correct and the SLP's flow slightly better? In my opinion, the couple horses aren't worth $340. But hey, that's why we have all these options, something for everyone.

Installed those peices in a friend's Camaro. Bolted right up.
BTW, you may need to weld before the cats. The Camaro I did was a single cat exhaust.

I wasn't trying to say that the couple extra hundred dollars from the SLP's were worth it, I was just saying that they were better.

Well I've got a hooker cat-back on my 87Z with the TES and the Catco and it all went together just fine. I had some exhaust leaking out the front slip on part of the cat, so I had it welded. But everything was fine to drive around for a while. Was a week or two before I made it by a place to weld it.

Same deal with my old 86 IROC, only it had a flowmaster cat-back behind the Catco/TES

I have the same EXACT exhuast as the one your considering. Only difference is i went with a 3 in slip on uni. catco to save some money, then i welded it all together. (im not a big fan of C-clamps). If you ask me it sounds great, not too loud, Awesome tone right around 2000 rpms, and nice WOT sound. I am about to ditch the muffler though, cause i want to try something riculously loud and see how fast i get tired of it. On the other hand, i have a cut out and all i have to do is open it up for ridiculously loud sound.

well good luck with it.

Eric
