Please Help, TES headers in...not happy!

I've gotten my headers in but the performance isnt there. I know this arent the best headers in the world, but they should be better than the stock manifolds, right? The engine is breathing better but it feels like the power goes out at around 5Krpms
Anybody here did other adjustments to get the full advantage of these headers?
Fuel preassure, timing, etc...

tehy are better. I noticed a difference. Your car is not going to make much power at 5k RPMs.

2 kicker comp 12"'s, polk for the rest. Phoenix gold xs2300 to subs, kicker impulse 404XI to 4 speakers, pioneer DEH- P7000R head unit, and finally a 12 disc changer. Full leather interior from http://www.MrMikes.com

your cam is holding you back. Thats why the stock redline starts at 4500 RPM. The cam is tiny.

The TBI isn't going to make power past 4500 rpm probably even with headers.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I first put mine on, I thought it was the dumbest mistake I had ever made. After about 3-4 weeks, things got much better. I think they sometimes need a "break in" period. My buddy had the same thing happen on his truck. He didn't feel the full benefits of them until about a month after they had been on. Just give them some time, I'm sure you'll like them in the long run.

Could this "break in" period just be the computer adjusting to the less restrictive exhaust? When I put mine on, I noticed right away a difference.

Well, I don't know for sure what this "break in" period is to be quite honest. I do know that I have talked to a few people that have had that happen. One guy once told me something about the metals or something...I don't know. I guess I can't really explain, I just know that it happened to me.

Just another input.. on a friends 91 z28.. the same thing, about a month and the power came. On my chevelle..i installed hooker super comps with 1 5/8" primaries, noticed a huge gain right away. That computer assumption is probably correct

As far as the computer is concerned, it's not a bad idea to disconect the battery during any mod. This way it resets the computer. Our computers are pretty stupid but they DO learn, a little bit. I think they kept improving OBDI from year to year until they switched to OBD2. One thing's for sure, dfferent 3rdGens respond different to similar mods.

I dont know what i was thinking when i said 5k, i really just meant to emphasize the fact the power isnt there(at high rpms). i also have the 3in I-pipe and still there is something wrong for sure. Ill wait and see if this "break in period" its true, if not im still going to boost FP and mess with the timing.
By the way the headers are for a 305-350 TPI, 1 5/8s to 3in colectors.
