why not just have the exhaust shop run side-by-side duals in the stock location?? it will cut down on clearance issues. if they say they can't do it, find another exhaust shop. mine has done it for me four times over the years.

it could work but you would have ground clearance of about an inch, only way to do it right is have all the twists and turns threw the stock tunnel.

u guys, i know that the pipes are straight but yes the shop will do all the correct bends and twists, so dont think that i would do it EXACTLY like the picture that i drew in like 1min, its just an idea for the muffler situation, since ground clearance is a big issue, i would have the glass packs in the stock muffler location but have them like that with dual 2½" pipe

Unless you like replacing things, go with a tubular muffler like the hooker elite stainless, hooker header mufflers (you can easily modify them for your application), stainless specialties (hot rod exhaust company, www.stainless-specialties.com) 4" diameter muffler, borla XR-1 race bullets, dynomax bullets, etc. I have never seen SLP resonators, but it from what I have heard (unless I'm just thinking of something else entirely), they would fit the description.

I have posted on the subject a couple of times, but no one had ever heard of them. WHat have you heard about them?

yeah, they are expensive--I paid $225 for my two 2 1/2" 16" long XR-1 oval sportsmans, and that was with a 10% discount from Summit. (the code is posted here)

This is what I know:
The entire XR-1 series (I think like all Borlas) are SS
The XR-1 shootout is the highest flowing muffler made. Hot Rod magazine did a big comparison test and the XR-1 shootout came out on top.
There are a lot of different mufflers in the XR-1 series. Here they all are
http://www.borla.com/motorsports/?ca...72.143.253.171
I know I don't like the sound of flowmasters (at least 40 and 80 series)
I know they better flow and sound really well for the price I paid (I'm putting them on this weekend)

Can you get some sound clips up after you put those on? Or do you know of where I can hear them?

I am also looking into dynomax race bullets or spintech. Know anywhere I can hear these?

*BTW* this exhaust will be for my 383 and I need 4".

They're NOT like glasspacks, much deeper and raspier... "cleaner"

how do put sound clips on here?

Also, I'll hopefully be using a Dr. Gas (www.drgas.com, I think) x-pipe so that may affect the sound.

I still am not sure where I can put my mufflers. There are a few pictures on here with the mufflers under the axle, but I'm not sure I have the clearance. Is this because I have a WS6 (91 formula WS6, LB9) or because I need new springs? (I'll probably post this question on the suspension board) Also, I may cut the rear floor pans out, weld in some flat metal, and put the mufflers under there with either side exits or turndowns. I guess I would thin my rear seat bottoms as much as possible so I can still fold down my rear seat.

What do y'all think?

I think if you get in touch with Dirk or an administrator, they can put the sound clips up on the media section of this site.

812many,
Thanks for the info on the Bullets. I have yet to install mine due to the fact I heard they sounded like glass packs. Now I am more eager to get them on.

hey guys i was thinking about this, what would happen if you could somehow get steel bent, made, etc, etc whatever, that would be square, square intermediate pipes to the rear that would hug your underside because then you wouldnt be scraping, just an idea i had before...

Why do you think square tubing would be any different from round?

That drawing looks just like a true dual setup for a 1st gen. They have kits with those single glasspacks. Good luck getting them around the panhard bar!
