Hedmen has a new header out!!>>

hey guys....I just saw that Hedman heders in the newest JEGS now offers there reguular shorty header...COATED!!! I don't think it's with "JET HOT" the company but they look sweet!! DO you think the "Coating" is just as good as JET HOT, etc? Will they live long and look good ya think? ALso, for the car in sig I know most would say to run a 1 3/4 header but man for $250 you cant go wrong. WIll the 1 5/8 be a good improvement over stock manifolds? My car is lightly modded.....'cept for the 150 shot coming soon

What's the part number on that puppy? Is it $250, including the coating? Is it smog? Does it include a y-pipe?
IMO, 1 5/8 will be fine for your car, even with the nitrous. Not perfect, as 1 3/4 would be better with the nitrous, but good enough.

I will have the part number in a little while....a friend has the book. I believe it's $255 to be exact INCLUDING the coating. They are non AIR headers BTW...which is what I personally prefer. I am not sure on the y-pipe but I will call and see when I get my book back. Ohh, and if they were like my old Hedman's...you will need to weld a bung in for the o2 sensor.

Hedman Elite.......
#500-68478 in the Jegs catalog.

"Hedman Elite Hedders are made with ultra heavy 14 gauge aluminized tubing and utilize a bulletproof 3/8'' flange. A thermal coatingis added to resist the intense heat and adverse elements common to engine compartments. Elite hedders can take the pounding and vibration of any off-road conditions, extreme hard use and can deal with the heat build-up found on motorhomes and towing situations."

No AIR fittings and a standard header flange. This means a custom Y pipe.

I have the headers you are talking about. Of course I payed $40 more for them .

They are 1 5/8" and aren't smog legal. They also aren't the Elite headers with 14 gauge tubing and a 3/8 flange. The part no is #68470(6). The 6 adds the HTC coating. The y-pipe, part no #17470 is available for about $100.

I don't know if the coating is any good, but it carries a 5-year limited warranty, if that means anything. All in all, theyr'e not bad, although the quality isn't as good as I would have liked. For that price, though, it's hard to go wrong.

Does that coating on the Hedman Headers part # 68476 look "chromed out"? Are they for $255 in the JEGS magazine? Thanx!

lol....those aren't the ones in the jegs magazine. These are custom big tube hedman hustler headers. Thats bare metal you're looking at. Have to fit them before coating them. They are around $500

yes they are...they are Hedman Hustler Headers. They are designed to fit a thirdgen with the stock front k-member. I had a friend who went to NFRA who saw them on a thirdgen, fit was very nice. You just have to relocate the oil fiter and run a ministarter...thats it

1 7/8" primary with 3.5" collectors.

www.hedman.com

look through the "hustler" headers. Part numbers are there. They even make 2" primary and 3.5" collectors

Here is a thought for us big block guys. If we would get a set with 2" tubes and cut off the flange and weld on a big block flange and bend a little maybe we could have a good set of headers.

maybe, but you have to remember that they were designed to fit with a small block, a big block is wider

here is a link to some people that make phenominal heades and will work with a big block

yes i know that they are for a small block. that is why i said cut bend and weld a big block flange on. and they would be cheaper than a set of lemons.

yes that would in theory work, but you're missing some problems

1) you'd have to rebend the center primaries
2) since a small block is "thinner" in diamter...if you put those same headers that were designed for a SMALL BLOCK on a BIG BLOCK (that is wider) it is going to not fit right around the k-frame because the BENDS were made with a thinner small block in mind

i'd go through lemons
