v6 exhaust

Hey guys, I got a few questions for you guys:
I got an 83 with a crappy 2.8, I got it for free, the body is good and the motor has 88,000 on it, and Its got a few more miles to go. So I was woundering I put headers, one 3"stright pipe (no cat.) and go into a flowmaster delta 40 and twice pipes out the back, would that sound OK??? its not going to have a rummble of a v8, but will it be nice??? If so who makes the cheepest 2.8 headers? ANY other comments will help!!!

In my experience I have never heard a good sounding v6 with exhaust. Just leave it stock.

i know a guy with headman headers, no cat, and a flowmaster muffler on his 2.8 blazer. it doesnt sound bad.... better in my opinion than my fuel injected 3.1 with a flowmaster 80 series. it burbles, and resembles the sound of a v8

hmm, you will either have to have them custom made ($$$), or see if you can get in on the ones that are being sold by a guy with a blue iroc. he's got a sticky on the v6 boards, i believe, and if not, he's posted all over the place there, so run a search.

nobody makes headers for the V6. But I think that someone actually does make them for the 3.4 liter V6. But, with those headers you will have to have a custom y-pipe made.

they do make headers for the 2.8 when my bird still had the 6 in it i had a high flow cat, 2.5" piping and dynomax super turbo muffler sounded good the 350tpi i put in sounds a hell of a lot better through the same exhaust and i'm ordering my cutout

Yes, you are correct. Hedman and Hooker both USED to make headers for the 2.8, but they don't anymore.

ive never heard bad things about the dynomax catback for the V6's, i remember watching a small video from the V6 boards of a car that had it, it sounded fairly quiet, and not like it was trying to sound loud or raspy, just a nice steady tone.
