still smoking?

how long are headers supposed to smoke for... i got the hooker shorties without coolguy coating.

oh yeah also my dipstick broke off while putting the headers on, and now theres oil all over that header, some of the y pipe and my starter, is that bad for the metal? for anything else? im replacing the dipstick i just want to know if i messed up my stuff.
oh and who has put on headers and a catback, im kinda wondering if my exhaust sounds like it should right now, its alittle low, ive always heard the headers will make it louder. eh

It will stop, not sure how long it will take. But that oil isn't helping the smoking, it's adding to it.

knowing that it will stop is very reassuring, especially when i pull up to the barracks and theres 20 marines giving me this look like im joe dirt. and i have to explain to them all that its ok to take a ride from me, it really wont explode....

It will never stop unless you fix your dipstick. You can get oil on just about anything besides your clutch and it will be fine.

mine smoked for about 2 days without the "coolguy coating" but if you drive a lot I dont think it should take more than a few hours or so.

Mine didnt smoke at all its probobly the oil you are seeing smoking i had that same problem...

I also think one of the most misconseptions on this board is people thinking that headers make a car louder, the only thing that makes a car louder is the muffler, that is its job... headers do, however affect the tone of the exhaust, just my opinion

Mine smoked, but I sprayed mine with high temp paint as they were used.

Took about 1 hour of driving and it went away.
