Header installation pics are up

Well guys I got the header installation pictures uploaded today. It wasn't too bad. I kept the stock size plugs and I should have gotten the shorter ones, they are really gonna suck to get out. The wires are a little messy, but I'm putting on the Made For You wire looms when I put the LT1 intake on, hopefully Monday. The pics are here, but here's one of em:

Well, I did the passenger side first cause its the hardest. I had to jack the engine up about 3-4 inches to get the back bolts out. Once it was jacked up, the header slid right in, no problem (AC and AIR was out too) The other side was just as easy. Header fit right in without having to jack the motor up at all. The starter wires are kinda close, but I'm gonna wrap them.

The plugs are a pain to get at, I shoulda gotten the shorter ones but oh well.

As for gains, I can feel a difference from a dead stop. Overall, I'm very happy.

Glad to hear

From where under the motor did you jack it up?

Just curious for when I do my install.

What kinda headers are you getting? Don't tell me you're getting an LT1 intake, powdercoated black too

Just remove the motor mount bolt from the passenger side, put a 2x4 (I had to use 3) on a jack and jack up the motor either on the oil pan or harmonic balancer

I want to get SLP's. So far I have $450 saved. I'll be keeping the TPI I'm going to port it when I pull it out to polish it.

Sweet!! Just looks a little odd the way they just out-shine everything else, lol

I will probably be putting my headers in this summer too. What did you have to do to install them? I think you said you jacked up the motor. Did you have to disconnect the steering shaft too? please lemme know.

They outshine everything for now. Hopefully next week I'll have my LT1 intake on and I'll detail the engine bay.

All I had to remove was the AIR stuff and the AC compressor. The drivers side went it without a problem after the motor was all bolted back down.

Nice pics Andy! If ya don't mind, what did those set you back before the coating? I'm just curious as to how they compared to SLPs. Did they come with a new Y-pipe too? I'm waiting to get my new SLPs back from Jet Hot and I will be doing the same project. Your headers look real nice and I like the way your AIR tube is designed as opposed to the SLPs. I'll have to rig something up since the SLP AIR tube points straight up. I don't know why they haven't changed that yet.....

Ed- They were $520 shipped directly from Jet Hot. They come with a new y-pipe, which is also coated.

Damn that's a deal! My SLPs were $500 non coated with the cat adapter. I'm sure I'll be happy with mine but saving money is a GOOD thing.

Nice!!

I ordered the same headers from jet hot. They should be in sometime next week. Although I was having some trouble with my bank and JetHot's order they were very patient and helpful I must call them tomorrow and tell them everything is ok. Can't wait!

It didn't reach originally because the wire was in some looming and taped with the temperature sensor I believe. I just untaped it and took it out of the looming so it would reach, then taped it again so the wire wouldn't touch the header.

You can always cut the wire and splice in a piece of wire to lengthen it.

i'll tell you right now that changing the plugs SUCKS. it took me about 3 hours to take my plugs out, re-gap them, and put them back in. good luck. they look real nice on your car.

Yeah, I am not looking forward to doing the plugs. Next winter I wanna do a cam swap though, so while I have everything apart I might just pull the headers and change to shorty plugs too.

Looks sweet man, kinda makes me wish i got mine coated instead of wrappin em, oh wellz. And ya there was 1 plug i could not get 2 at all i got the accel shorties, and it BARELY and i mean barely comes off. But it works now and i can change em pretty fast, that 1/4" shorter actually turned out 4 the best.
