Has anyone ever cut the inner contents out of an EFE valve on an LG4 or L69????
My EFE valve started making a horrible noise once so I had to pry the valve and stick it so it's open all the time, not controlled by the thing on the intake.
The butterfly is not straight up and down, kind of angled, it's restricting flow.
Has anyone every cut the entire butterfly out? I am no longer using the CC intake and carb, so I have no choice. I know I could get a whole new set of headers but I don't want to spend the money. Is there any other alternative?

Take it out and replace it with straight pipe and doughnut gaskets. I had to do that when I put on my edelbrock headers. Just make sure you get the right size pipe and gaskets, and you should be fine. Mine has never leaked in the six monthes its been on there.

As I recall, the L69 and the TPI manifolds are the same size (larger than the LG4). One difference, aside from the driver's side heat stove, is that the TPI manifold to y-pipe is simply a spacer, no donut required. I've got one lying around the garage, I think. If you want it, let me know. It's yours for shipping.

330hp,
Let me get home and check to see that the spacer is still around (as you can see in my sig, I swapped in the L69 exhaust, though the pass side manifold, along with the spacer, came from a TPI car). I'll pm you later today.

Do all the 85-88 LG4's and L69's have these spacers? If they do I can just head over to the pick-a-part and pick one up. But of course if you already have one laying around, and it is what I need I'll just send you a few $$$ for shipping.

330hp,
The part number comes from the 1982-1991 Chevrolet Camaro Parts & Illustration Catalog CD--if you don't have it, you need it. The LG4 and L69 are equipped with EFE, thus the butterfly, but the TPI cars simply had the spacer--essentially the same part fabricated without the butterfly. You might take the part number to a local dealership. Surely, they can order what you need. However, you're still welcome to the one I have. By the way, finding one at a bone yard would probably be easy enough, since, I believe, every TPI Camaro/Firebird, had one, but dropping the y-pipe to retrieve it would be a major PITA. Simply buying one might be a whole lot easier.
