I can see what you are saying about the amount of welds, but for me this is the only way to go. The set-up may not be the cleanest looking, but I have no doubt about it's quality. I have emailed the people making it a couple times and they have been very helpful and seem to be good to deal with. For that much money it is hard to beat when all the shops around me charge an astronomical rate to do exhaust.

Those Summit chambered mufflers are $120 each. They are gooe quality mufflers (and made of stainless steel) don't get me wrong, but that's just a little too much for me.

THis may have been asked, but would you have to use a custom y-pipe with stock manifolds? And does anyone have any before and after shots of the side of their car, for ground clearence reasons? Otherwise, this looks like a promising setup..........

for $400, especially w/o custom mufflers to actually fit in the rear area or the exiting tailpipes if you were to find something to fit back there, it's not a very good system (i.e. ripoff).
It's roughly $75 worth of pipe and a can of crappy aluminium paint that will burn, blister and flake off the frontal part after the 1st drive. I commend the effort but, from the pictures, not well made. Especially the pic of over the track bar brace where it appears on of the pipes is actually laying on the brace.
As far as the pieces parts/too many welds comment. That is the most cost effective way to make a mandrel bent system unless you can afford a $7500-$15k mandrel bending machine. Although, dressing the welds would take minimal time to improve the appearance to the buying public. But, what do I know..

As far as many welded peices of mandrel bent pipe go.... I do this on all my custom exausts and as long as the welds are good there is no problem with it. Even if you have a mandrel machine sometimes you can not bend things as you want (my experiance at least, maybe someone more skillfull than me could?) I hate to say something negative but I don't think that clearance is very good? Do you have any more pictures? I make a custom cross member for my dual 3" pipes and I think it tucks out of the way better but maybe the picture is just misleading. Anyway...should be fine for a stock ride height car.....I have sportlines so I have to be carefull.

has any one ordered the dual exhaust yet .I think that a 4 in single pipe exhaust would be just fine unless your making over 500 horsepower.I true dual would be sweet but their too many veriables, if you have a th350 por 400 the crossmember wont work, i think a good wxhaust would be fine, 3 or 4 inch . just my 2 cents :lala:
im ordering it this morning it should be here in about 2 weeks
ill let u guys know how i like it or dislike it when its installed
im putting flowmaster 40s on vertically next to the gas tank
and i see how that goes i might have to change that idea well see
(im leaving for 2 weeks i have to go to fort sill in OK. for my 2 week drill for the marines i wont be able to answer any other questions till i get back on the 21st
take it easy

I have I think over 15 e-mails from this company talking about the exhaust and I ordered it like 5 weeks ago or maybe longer and it is just now in the mail, I should get it this week sometime and I will let you all know how it fits, as far as mufflers go I am going to try the Spintech Pro Streets and put them in the corners of the rear bumpers facing front to back. With this kit you can only use bullet type mufflers or if you can find a small regular muffler that might work also.

I'm very interested in some first hand opinions. Also, exactly what kind of muffler would work (i.e. inlet and outlet sizes and length), i'm looking at sweet thunder mufflers. Also, what kind of cat forward pipes, or would it be better to just use 'fake' cats?

I installed that system on a guy's 1984 Z28 many years ago. And while it looked OK out of the box (weld and bend quality), fitment was a nightmare. It hung too low in places, and it hit every part of the underside of the car that it passed by. With a boatload of fiddling, we were able to get most of the rattles out, but he removed it and went back to stock a few month later.
No surprise they went out of business not long after.
Thread was a blast from the past.

I would think that you could add a link end adapter too the cross member to accept a Hiem joint type torque arm connection. i doubt you could use a factory or polyu urethane type end style torque arm.

I see this is an old thread but with the availability of oval shaped exhaust pie these days i wonder why someone doesn't revisit this idea.
The oval pipe would certainly help with some of the ground clearance issues. Still need to go from round too oval and back to round but this would make the "X' pipe easier to fabricate and more than likely give more room in the tunnel. Just a thought.
