Edelbrock headers question
I'm looking into to getting these, but I have a couple of questions.
My car: 91 RS w/ 305 TBI
Now the headers edelbrock says are for my car are kind of on the small side if you ask me. The y-pipe is only 2 1/4", which would be fine if I was mounting it to a stock cat back, but that's not the case (Dynomax).
But they do have ones that have a 3" connection to the cat, so hopefully the y-pipe is bigger than 2 1/4".
So is there a diffence between the two as far as the y-pipe goes?
The one that Edelbrock say I should have for my application
RS & Formula 88-92 5.0L T.B.I., 2-1⁄4" inlet slip-on cat.
#6875†• #6875†•
The one I think I want
IROC, Z-28, Formula 86-90 5.0/5.7L T.P.I. , 3" inlet slip-on single cat.
#6872†• #6872†•
And finally, they offer two different types of coatings. One is a nickel/chromium plated coating and the other is the ceramic coating. What's the difference? I think one is just for looks and the other is for looks and will lower underhood temps.
Thanks guys.

Get the TPI system, but you may have to modify it to fit your Dynomax cat back, easy for any muffler shop to do. And your right about the coatings, the chrome/nickel is just for looks, it wont protect and reduce temps like the ceramic will. They need to be coated on the inside to get the best performance and life out of them, I'm not sure if Edelbrock does both sides. If they don't buy them uncoated and send them to Jet-Hot, they will coat both sides and give a lifetime warranty on them.
