rich after cat removal

I have a question for all of you . I removed the cat and the smog pump, and did the tbi mods all at the same time and now the car has a real bad rich smell from the exhaust. have all you guy that have done this experiance the same thing. its a 92 305 tbi. or is there something that i can do to eleminate the rich smell. and also i was trying to change the charcol canister filter but there is no way to get it out, the chilton shows it coming out from the bottom. mine has a plastic botom that doesnt look like it can be removed. thanks sean

Change the O2 sensor. If the smell doesn't go away, put the cat & A.I.R. back on.

my car made a really bad smell like that. i mean it burned my eyes when i stood behind my car, but i have a L69 and it's carbed so my problem was the EVAP canister so i don't know if u have that or not.

thats what theyre supposed to do, especially with large displacement engines that run dirtier then todays smaller bore/displacement engines. Todays motors are alot cleaner. We have some yard eqipment in the garage with a new 4 cycle tecumseh in it thats cali emmisions legal and that thing could probably pass emmisions here without even breaking a sweat, its a zillion times cleaner then my car.

Dont worry about the smell,

I hollowed out my cat, pulled the smog, and diconnected all emissions on my car, it did have a smell for a couple weeks or so but i think i either got used to it or it went away cause i dont notice any smell anymore and neither does anyone else!!! I have edelbrock headers and edelbrock y pipe, fit like a dream!!!
