hollow sounding idle

hey ive seen and heard alot of older muscle cars, and ive always loved how they have a kinda hollow idle.

i wanted to know if someone could post what kind of mufflers they are or waht i cna do to make it sound like that. im taking auto shop, so cost aint a problem, i get school discount,

and ground clearance wont matter, this is on my 78 truck, so i also dont need emissions.

right now i do have LT headers, and 2.5inch duals that exit after the rear tires, but the exhaust is too quiet.

also in a few months i will have like a 300 or more hp 327 in it, so i want it to sound sweet when im running her up to 6500.

thanks

for starters, most hotrods don't have cats. that might be a good place to start. most of them are probably true duals as well.

Carb + CAM...

More air movement makes more sounds, so i'ts hard to make a mouse sound exactly like a Rat, but still mouse does sound good to me...

When you see a Old MuscleCar , if you can, ask the owner what are is mufflers... my friend has ThurshTurbo on is 73Nova, sound nice but not badass, he has a 307 with unknown cam.

I do like my Spintech alot, great idle too, when cold it sound like i have an high lift cam (i have carb issues and it idle at 500 rpm cold)

With your setup with no cats(if you have them) and good mufflers should sound very nice. Engine has alot to do with sound though. A killer high compression big race engine will sound much louder than a streetable 327 with the same exhaust.

yes i know that about the motor size, i was just wondering about what brand/model mufflers, i know about the motor and crap, i know my engine will be breathin enough to make it like that.

and my compression is going to be about 9.9:1 or so. dunno know yet.

its stock pistons with 58cc chamber heads in a 327.
