1 7/8 headers?

I have heard that hooker makes 1 7/8 headers and just saw it on their site. How is this on emsions and what does it give you for house power? The second thing that i would like to know is how hard is it to install? Do you have to customize to get it to fit?

unless you are making an ungodly amount of horsepower (talking 800+) you will never need these headers. you will loose low end torque as well (again, unless your making power and spinning the motor to 8000+rpm) i believe that they exit in a bit different location then the other hooker lt's so the rest of the exhaust would be a custom fab job. the header/head flange is also different so you will need an adapter. as far as emissions, i don't think they will effect them that much. all in all, if your looking for a hot street motor, these are not the headers for you. if your looking for an all out, 800plus hp motor, then maybe you could consider it. but i know guys running low 10's/high 9's through a 1 5/8" primary header without problems.

um, manifolds are like 1 1/4"or less. aftermarket headers start at 1 1/2" but the most common is 1 5/8" which is what your motor (stock l98 350 tpi, right?) would benefit most from.

probably would go with a catco cat or some other high flow cat (i don't know what's good, i don't have emissions here in GA) the cat back system is really up to personal preferrence. i have heard the flowmaster and dynomax catback systems and they both sound good. the dynomax would probably be a bit restrictive for your application. see about listening to some sound clips or something. see what you like best. performance will all be about the same from system to system.

aziroc...probably n/a. power adders have a way of forcing their way through small tubes.

I have a cat back Borla system which sounds good. What i am looking for is the cat and headers. I am looking to do it this winter and would like to have it finished for the spring. I live in Mass and it has to meet the emisions standards

just for emissions sake, i would check out slp headers (slp stands for street legal performance) hooker headers w/ air tubes, and edelbrock w/ air tubes. those are all shorties. i don't know of any longtube headers that have air tubes. a catco cat will be good enough for performance and definetly get all of the emissions stuff taken care of.
