Lemme get this straight...

I called Flowmaster today and asked them about an Exhaust for my '84 Sport Coupe. They told me they don't even make one. What gives with that? Do they even make a muffler for '84 sport coupes?

I'm totally confused.

u will most likely just need to get a system for an 86-92 thirdgen and just bolt it on, and get a place to worry about connecting your y-pipe / cat to the new catback, if it will need any modding of course.

I should be able to get the 86-92 Exhaust system though and it should mount up just like my 84 sport coupe shouldn't it? I mean as far as mounts and hanger and clamps?

yeah, sorry i was tired.

the catback should work fine, for the whole catback there are 2 mounting positions.

the rear passengers side of the gastank area thats where the overaxle pipe connects, on the other side is where one of the tips connects to a hanger.

then the other hanger is the one where the cat hangs onto near the tranny tail shaft.

So if i got like Hooker Headers goin to a 3" collector ---> 3" y-pipe ----> 3" CAT ---> Fowmaster American Thunder 80 Series 3" IN/OUT

How's that system sound to you? And just get the system for the '86s

Sounds like it will all fit fine. By going with all 86-up stuff you will be getting a converter that has the two-bolt flange for the cat-back connection and slip-fit inlet for where the header kit's Y-pipe hooks up and it will work fine.... The difference in the years is just in the type of connection style on either end of the converter. No matter what you decide to do, a decent exhaust shop will be able to adapt any one style (two-bolt flange, slip fit, 4-bolt flange) to any other style for a minor fee.
