Anybody have True duals w/glasspacks?

Anybody have them? no flaming about the glasspacks please. i know that 40's would sound better but i'm going for ease of fittment so i can have side dumps right before the tires......

I'm just looking for a good picture, i'd get under the car but it's burried in snow

Thanks,
Dave

if you have fitment issues buy bullet mufflers or miroso spiral flow mufflers like i did.....glasspacks are very restrictive....

even the thrush ones w/o the "cheese grater" for lack of better terms...? i know that they drop down slightly in size internally, but the 2.5" I/O only looses like 1/8" from what i remember. but i could be wrong, they say that the memory is the first thing to go with age.......

bullet mufflers are glasspacks. They are perforated inner tube instead of louvered. Thrush glass packs are also perforated and much cheaper but longer. And the largest size is 2.5 inches.

This guys setup would work well with 2.5 inch thrush glass packs. http://home.earthlink.net/~chris255/thirdgen1.jpg
They could be put in the area right after the 45 deg turn from the cat area or down the center. The thrush magnums are skinny enough to still fit snug but still keep the sound at a decent level.

I've done it with a 2.25 inch system but not nearly as clean. I used clamps and not very good cutting tools. But I had plenty of room following that same path he did. Also I am dumping it right in front of the diff.

The 2nd pic/idea wouldn't really work since, with the 2 types of shorties I've had, the driver header exits just forwards of the oil filter and the pass header exits behind the starter. You would basically end up with a factory y-pipe with an added tube on the drivers side.

The first pic you altered is exactly how my mufflers a hung and they fit well in that spot. But they are 25 inche long 2.25 inch thrush mangnums. I don't know if the 2.5 inch magnums come in a lenght that short. The bullets however do. But I think they may be a little wider. But probably will still have lots of room. With the tube mufflers there you could also run one of those dual in/out catalytic converters if you ever needed it in the normal cat spot. Also I did not extend the exits to the side because of ground clearance issues. I haven't had any ill effects so far from dumping down the center right before the diff.

My brother is running something similiar to the second pic but he is using and x pipe after the trans. He does not have as much clearance as I do, but has not scraped anything as of yet either.

hmm, maybe i could run the pipes the same as the 1st pic, but use a dual in/dual out Flowmaster where the cats are supposed to be. hmmmmmmm now that might be a winner, why didn't i think of that before

my friend had a thrush glasspack on his cavalier z24 and it was very very restrictive. now he has sidepipes with flomaster single in dual out where the cat used to be. sounds very nice and much improvement in flow

well, i guess good ol Flowmaster dosen't make a dual in/dual out 40 series. so i'm gonna try a 3" in/dual 2.5 out. i'm gonna have to make a Y for the dual 2.5 into 3" but that's won't be hard.

as soon as the snow melts and i can get the beast started it's going into the muff shop...
