Gale Banks Catback - Off The Hook!

Just installed the little known exhaust from Gale Banks Industries. One of the best looking, best sounding exhaust systems that I've seen for our cars. Best thing about it, is very few people have it and everyone who sees it wants to know what kind it is.

Has a real nice idle and cruise sound, shove it to the floor and it sounds mean (I will be posting pics and wave file shortly).

I purchased the 3" catback, all stainless system. Swapped the standard (82-92) dual driver side tailpipes with the 4th gen left/right muffler and tail pipes. Tailpipes all chrome (from muffler back) and welded into place (gorgeous).

Since the don't mass produce this system all the sale people don't know the even have it. I spoke with Jason Wilcox (jwilcox@bankspower.com) who was great help. Let him know you're from thirdgen.org and see if he can help you out with the price.

Hey what is the part # for that ? Is it a different part # if you order it with the dual 4th gen style tailpipes ? I 'm not a big fan of the 2OTL style ... Thanks in advance for the info !

52412 - (1993 - 95 Muffler with Tail Pipes) Make sure you ask for the 83 - 92 Intermediate Pipe.

Part # for the "Stinger" dual pipes on the drive side system is 49102. You want the intermediate from this system with the muffler and tail pipes listed above.

I am not sure of the exact price, the system was a gift originally. Even though I worked with Jason Wilcox on the exact combination we needed. I originally received the dual driver side "stinger" system and then re-ordered the desired left/right dual. Both are great looking/sounding systems, I do believe the left/right is a bit more expensive. Borla type quality at about half the price - Send a message to Jason at the email, in the above post and get him to send you a quote.

We had a gutted cat with a flowmaster before re-installing a high flow cat and the Banks system. Sounds so much nicer. Hopefully it will warm up this week and I can make a .wav file for all to hear.

it may be slightly more expensive but not much.I think i paid the same for mine as the original one,but I could be wrong Personally i like dealing with Entec on the Banks stuff,as they are extremely helpful and their discount was better than banks and plus most of the retail sales people over at banks have no idea the system even existed, which was why I went through their dealer network in the first place

That's why I listed Jason Wilcox's information, he is aware of the parts required for both systems and works for Banks. Entec has a good reputation, I'm pretty sure you won't go wrong with either one. Comparison shopping is always the best way to go. See who gives you the best deal.

John, Thanks again for your patience. I am finally seeing the light.
Scott, I just returned your e-mail. I should know more info on making a kit for the dual tip set-up. Typically when they give it one part # it has a package price.

Hi jo88gta,

Another satisfied Banks owner! Let us know when you have some sound clips available -- or any photos of it installed on your car. I just ordered the exact same system (with the dual-cat I-pipe) from EnTech and got a great price on it. Can't wait to hear this puppy on my Formula.

I don't think EnTech has a website, unfortunately. You can call them at (801) 265-0994 though...I talked to Ken when I ordered the system, and he's a really nice guy. He's very familiar with the third-gen system too. Says it's been a hot item lately thanks to this board....

I just got an email back from Jason Wilcox and he suggested getting them from EnTec as well.

quoted from his email....

"Talk to Ken when you call. The # is in the same thread. He has more of these exhausts than we do. The boards have really brought this system back to life."

Nice..

Talked to Ken as well.. Said roughly around $350 including shipping to Az. He'll be emailing me back with exact prices due to my needing a weird configuration. It's something I've actually found to be a PITA concerning the manufacturers not carrying what I need.

I've got a '91 Z28 L98 with a SINGLE cat. Most everybody and their mother sells one, but with a DUAL cat configuration. The guy I bought it from reduced it to a single because he couldn't afford to get 2 cats replaced at the same time. This has been a Biyatch in shopping around for headers too.

I'm shooting for the Hooker 2055's.. I think they'll mate up with the Banks pretty good. Eh?

that seems resonable..It really is probably better to deal with entec on this one since they seem to have more info than banks does on it,as strange as that sounds I am sure if kenn can make it happen with banks he will.he is a very customer service oriented guy!

Got a call from Ken today. He mentioned that it would be $268 + Shipping coming to roughly $300. That's $50 cheaper than his original quote.

Nice...

Then there's the other info.. He told me that being my cat setup had been modified (dual to single) that Banks would not take it back if it didn't fit correctly. He thinks it's due to my wanting the split pipes and not on just the driver's side. They'd have to mix parts to give me what I'm looking for. This is even WITHOUT modifying their pieces,

So i.e. of it doesn't fit when I get it, I'm stuck with it. That kinda sucks but I don't anticipate it not being able to work.

You may want to check again with him on that?...The dual pipes on opposite sides would have nothing to do with the fitment issue. My initial though on this would be that if you originally had a dual cat setup & then someone (other than you) changed the cat to a single setup and maybe that person did not put the cat in the EXACT same position the original single cat setup cars were in,so with that being said: If they sent you a single cat system and the I-pipe was too short, too long or a different bend etc. then THAT would would seem resonable that they would not take system system back, because of an altercation they have no knowledge of...but the muffler thing should have nothing to do with it...Just a thought!
